  1. WWE No Mercy comes to mind too. It used the D pad to move and the stick is your Special
  2. What about the Play Choice 10 version? I played that well before I knew the game was available to buy. I remember my buddy calling me to meet me at the arcade because "Super Mario 3 is out!"
  3. The way I see it, Bionic Commmando GB is a standalone game and not a different version of the NES title. Everything is redone, the setting is different, etc. It' similar but not intended to be the same game. I see Double Dragon as being the GB version of the arcade game. The levels, bosses, story etc are all the same(ish), just re-interpreted for the Game Boy's limitations. Much like Mortal Kombat, DuckTales, or Battletoads & Double Dragon: The Ultimate Team - the game is intended to be as close to the it's bigger brother title as Game Boy will allow for, not a total re-imagining of the game like Batman and Bionic Commando are. but Bionic Commando isn't a total re-imagining level design or gameplay wise (and I never said it was or was intended to be the same game, but if you compared level designs, you would notice some are very similar to the NES version. I'm talking about the gb b/w game here not the very different Elite Forces GBC). I don't know what you are talking about with Double Dragon. It's like a different game. Levels are different (especially level 2), gameplay is different (no heart system and attacks work differently), and strategies are different too. Mortal Kombat is also a poor example. As close as GB would allow for? MK2 and other games like Killer Instinct proved that wrong. MK1 is nothing like the original, has slowed down inputs, and non existant AI. Duck Tales is similar to NES, but has remixed level designs (which is similar, but not the same game). Batman is a different game from the NES, not a re-imagining. Why not compare side by side instead of arguing? It is very clear that the developers had made attempts to make Double Dragon, MK and DuckTales as close to the arcade or NES version as possible, but yes diferences remain. Mortal Kombt is clearly meant to be MK arcade brought to GameBoy. Double Dragon is obviously intended to be DD arcade made portable. The quality of the games has nothing to do with it and neither does MK2 or KI or anything that came after. Bionic Commando is a completely different game. It's similar, sure, but it is quite obvious that the developers did not attempt to re-create the NES game on GB - instead they've made a pseudo-sequel with similar gameplay and ideas. If you can't understand this then, whatever man. It doesn't really matter to me so go ahead and "argue" or compare side by side all you want.
  4. Mario Kart's never been remade. It's had sequels sure, but that's different. Personally I am on the fence about remakes. For some games of course they are essential - like Final Fantasy 3 or Dragon Quest 5 - because they never came out here. There are also remakes that add a lot to the original game - like Mario 3 adding in a save feature for instance. Or re-making games for differently capable systems. Re-making Final Fight for GBA and thus making it portable was pretty cool. All told I would always prefer to play the original game when possible. I feel it should be a requirement to at least issue the original version along with the remade one. That being said - I don't feel there are any games that need to be remade - I would much rather see them lovingly ported in their original state whenever possible, and any upgrade ideas integrated into a sequel

  6. All things considered I think Double Dragon for GB is better than the NES version. Tetris of course is a really good one, but games like Batman, Megaman, Bionic Commando in mind wouldn't count as the are completely new and different games on GB.
  7. I just love this quote. To be fair to the 3DS tho - the online component has been up since day 1, in so far as SpotPass and online gameplay/features for games are concerned. It's the online DLC shop and browser we've been waiting on.
  8. Why would you be worried about completely optional control schemes that make games accessible? The way they have done Super SF4 is absolutely perfect. There are hotkeys if I want them, but if I don't I obviously just won't. If playing online you can choose to not play against people using hotkeys if you want to. All games should be set up like this so that I can play how I want and with people who play like me if I want to. Having control of game difficulty and control options doesn't take away the challenge of the game, they make it awesome.
  9. Okay I get it, thanks. I was thinking more about made up stats concerning how long the battery lasts rather than how people feel about it
  10. I am not sure why privacy would be important in this case. Friend codes aren't personally identifiable, and it's a 2 way street. I could add you a hundred times but until you add me too it doesn't do anything. Like, I StreetPassed a random person the other day and the message their Mii was saying was clearly a friend code. Nice gesture I guess, but totally pointless. Fair enough, I suppose. Friend code is 0387-8800-0422 then, but I do need to still know who all adds me so I can add you back. Ha ha I am totally posting that friend code everywhere I can! Sorry just being a jerk. Here's mine and I will aim to add you this evening when I get the chance 2878 - 9620 - 1977
  11. ASCII made some cool controllers. The ASCII Pad and Super Advantaqe stand out to me.
  12. It looks almost new, which is probably causing people to overreact.
  13. Battery life may not be an issue for you, but it is for the rest of the world, and every review I've seen dinged it bad for that, and NOBODY got 5 hours. Engaget said it was 1/3 of the life of the DS Lite. I usually end up with whatever Nintendo handheld over time, so I can't say I'd be against getting one in the future, particularly after a few price cuts and the redesign that we can predict, based upon Nintendo's history of constantly redesigning and improving their handhelds. But in the short run, I have difficulty pretending that battery life is NOT an issue in ANY handheld, because there's never been a time when it was not. Here's my experience with the battery life. About 35 mintues of play on the way to work - second highest brightness level, using full 3D, full volume and much touch screen controls. Then about 35 mintes of play on the way home, same settings. I put in about 40-60 minutes in the evening playing a 3DS or regular DS game and otherwise the system is constantly in sleep mode and StreetPassing people. Playing this routine requires me to charge the thing after the second day. If not, when I get to work on the 3rd day it will be flashing red but will still make it through sleep mode all day until I can charge it at night. Of course, as I mentioned if you sit in one spot and do a multi-hour session then you will feel the battery is not lasting very long, but after a couple weeks of actual practical use, I am not finding the battery to be a huge issue at all. Charging it afer 2 days of use is not unreasonable to me. If I were going to plunk my ass on the couch and play for 2 hours or more (which I hardly have time for), I'd plug it in in any case
  14. I was thinking this back in November and set out to final finish the game. It took me nearly 3 months to do so, but I beat it, and with 100% completion (or 101% or whatever it was. I got everything) I haven't posted here yet this year, but here is my list so far. Nintendo 64 Donkey Kong 64 1080 Snowboarding WWF No Mercy Game Boy Pokemon Yellow Version 3DS Super Street Fighter IV 3D Edition
