  1. Trying to figure out what in the world this game is. It's at an auction and they can't get it to power up, and they will only send me limited pictures. The only picture with any identifying info is the HOW TO PLAY card. it reads Start your flight into adventure-land by selecting the one or two player start button Shoot through the center of the bridge to open the tunnelgate to the maze Watch out for the balloons! Bridge - 2000 points Fly through the tunnel maze but dont crash Points are awarded for time spent in the tunnel maze etc. please see the picture. Thanks so much!
  2. http://www.ebay.com/itm/152479720026 Finally time to let her go to someone else to enjoy. Complete system, works great except for a flakey disk drive but I've included a sony drive as a replacement. Any questions, let me know!
  3. I have horizontal, slightly diagonal lines on my display and I'm guessing it has something to do with the fried beetle I found near this crispy diode. This is right in front of the shielding for the flyback. I'll replace it and likely all of the surrounding parts but I don't have a schematic for this board to get the values. Only schematics I can find are for the wrong part # (goldstar?). Here is the part number for this board if I'm not mistaken: 3003-708-010 Here are a few more views for help in identifying Any help is appreciated. The part in question is labeled D304 on the underside of the board.
  4. This just in... I am a big dumbness. I forgot my basic order of troubleshooting operations. The EBay seller said the master system gamelan was working and since I don't have a master system I didn't check it. Low and behold as soon as I opened the gamepad I found the problem. Someone put the rubber membrane what has the little pads that press on the contacts on the board in upside down. To what end? I have no idea. Anyway, problem solved, atari working, nobody panic. Hahahaha
  5. i think the keyboard itself works just fine. All of the keys beep on the desktop and i can type things like volume names for floppies fine. Its just that second mouse port (closest to the rear) that is giving me the business. Ok, so does the system always look for the mouse on the first port or is it plug and play? like if I am on the desktop and the mouse is on the first port and i switch it to the second, it should still work? Say I am playing Vroom right.. I have the mouse plugged into the first port and my master system control pad on the second. The game works fine contolled with the mouse. i can move up and down on the menu and select options with the mouse, but i cant move the selector with the joystick, however I can select to start with the joystick button, but when I get into the game i cant do anything with the joystick. alao Bradley from Best Electronics suggested that it could be the 6850 interface chips also. I could also replace those with the keyboard chip if needed, though I hate desoldering ICs lol
  6. Actually I can get that IC and write it with my programmer if someone can point me to the hex file or whatever I need to write to it.
  7. Hey all. I tested the connector continuity and it seems good to the point where I can no longer follow the traces. The mouse keys through the keyboard work. Is the system supposed to beep every time you press a key? I haven't tried to type anything I guess. Is it the socketed chip under the keyboard you guys are talking about? Is that a standard chip I could get from digikey or do I need to get it through one of the atari retailers listed above?
  8. Thank you for the reply! I will check the chips and the solder connections and report back. In regards to the test cartridge, I'm kind of new with these computers so I'm not familiar yet with the dealers. Could you point me in the right direction, or perhaps to a thread with this information?
  9. So I opened up my ST to see what my prospects for modifications might be and low and behold, a piggyback ram upgrade! Is there a utility I can run to make sure everything is running correctly on my machine and all of the chips are working? Also, how can I tell if there are any other mods on my machine? Or do you think this is maybe modded from the dealer or sent in? *** ALSO on another note, my #1 (of #0 and #1) mouse/joystick port does not seem to be working properly. When I try any games with either the mouse or joystick plugged to that port the game crashes. In TOS the mouse does not work when plugged into that port. Any ideas what to check?
  10. Update! I received the monitor in good condition. Opening it up I immediately saw a broken ground so I went ahead and soldered that back together. I then powered it up and it still had the horizontal bands but after about 5 minutes it gave a really high pitched whine, I heard something kind of sizzle, there was a little smoke and an acrid smell... And no more problem. Huh. Well I can't seem to find what went proof but I'm not going to look a gift horse in the craw either. Current pic of attestation.. I got the little computer desk at another thrift store for 5 bucks. Now she has her own space in my hifi room
  11. ohh... I would like to have another sf314 disk drive and also a good controller!
  12. I have also rescued a 1st gen Apple Powerbook, a Commodore 64, and an ancient compaq (iirc) notebook computer that had a trackball on the side of the screen. I thought that was neat. I'm pretty sure this stuff gets thrown away if it isn't sold relatively quickly. Can't have that! I scored this http://www.ebay.com/itm/191037952651 for what I thought was an ok price. I should be able to repair it pretty easily.
  13. Hrm, no replies? Perhaps due to a lack of pictures of the beast. Here she be, along with my soldering area, but that isn't important. The soldering area is getting moved.
  14. Hi there. I need a color monitor for my Atari 520 ST. Let me know what you have!
  15. Hey all. I recently rescued an Atari 520 ST from a local thrift store as it was to be thrown away due to not working properly! This is my first atari computer. I have also owned pong, super pong, a 2600, a 7800, and a jaguar. I scored the console itself, disk drives a and b, a monochrome monitor, the associated power supplies and cables, and a loose copy of maniac mansion. All that was needed was a refurbishing of the main power switch, a patch repair to a broken power supply cable, and one disk drive only needed a cleaning, but I haven't managed to get drive b working yet. I don't know if it is traditional to post pics of your hardware but I would do so if anyone is interested. Anyhow, I would like to begin enjoying some of the great games for this system, and while there are some for monochrome, I was wondering if anyone might be able to part with a color monitor for my cause. I would of course pay for shipping, and I am flexible beyond that but of course cheaper is better. It need not be in good cosmetic condition at all, but should work properly. tl,dr : I need a color monitor for them vidya games.
