  1. Wired ethernet worked wonders for me. It downloaded less than 5mins and it installed under one.
  2. I got my VCS today. I still can't believe I scored this $400 console/hybrid system for only 99 bucks! ?
  3. I just installed this mod. I have Retro Gaming Cables Genesis 2 RGB SCART cable with internal 75ohms. I followed the above advice. I get an awesome picture. The problem is the picture does not stay. The title screen only stays up for a few seconds then it fades to black on every game. I tested the voltages and I get 5 volts at the AY-3-8915 chip. I tried two different power supply units and the same thing happens. It cannot be a power issue. Any advice?
  4. I just tried this 7800 core on my MiSTer and I'm impressed by the accuracy. I'm using a Sony PVM and I had my AV modded 7800 connected via composite, and the MiSTer connected via RGB to compare. The sound is indistinguishable. The visuals of course are better on the MiSTer because of RGB output. Besides that, the accuracy is freakishly amazing.
  5. After a ton of troubleshooting and a small amount of money spent, my DIY 5200 controller is working great! I ensured that the solder joints were not loose. I used my multimeter to test for continuity and capacitor voltage. I even opened my 5200 and adjusted the pot, and I even reprogrammed the controller's ATTINY 85 chip. And still nothing changed. So I decided to use six wires and wire the analog stick to the right side of the PCB. I soldered the left side to the six solder pads used for the right side analog and BAM, now works flawlessly.
  6. OK, I've replaced the digital pot chip and the problem was not resolved. Like I stated earlier, all my other controllers work fine, but not the 5200 home made. So I don't think the internal 5200 pot is out of spec. Unless I need to recalibrate the internal POT for each controller.
  7. I think I might I have issue #3. My standard 5200 controllers and my Wico Command joysticks work just fine. The solder points on the homemade 5200 controller PCB are solid and not loose. I just ordered another chip. They are actually very inexpensive so it should not be an issue. I'll reply with the results as soon as I receive and install the other chip.
  8. I just got done assembling one and the analog stick will not work. I have in on the left side. The characters on screen (pac-man, berserk, etc.) automatically move to the left. The buttons work fine but the analog stick will not work. I tried rearranging the jumpers and it does not help. Maybe a bad analog stick?
  9. Update. It seems as if my PVM will only accept component mode from Sophia. Using component mode fixed everything! Everything works fine and the picture is awesome thanks to Simius.
  10. OK, I just installed the Sophia on perfectly working 5200. I still have the sync problem. Could it because I'm using a SCART to BNC cable? I doubt it because all my other classic systems work fine on my PVM using SCART to BNC except for the 5200. Any advice?
  11. My 5200 just stopped reading carts. All I get is a black screen. Maybe a bad GTIA? Maybe the bad sync was due dying chips? I'll keep working on it and I'll post my findings if I get this thing back to working again.
  12. I finally got time to install the Sophia RGB board. However I'm getting extreme sync issues. I have it hooked up to a Sony PVM. I got the SCART cable from this website https://coolnovelties.co.uk/coolnovelties/atari-800-1200-65xe-130xe/307-atari-sophia-rgb-mod-board-revision-b-to-scart-cable-0705693506562.html?search_query=atari+sophia&results=2 . Any ideas how to fix this? I've included photos.
  13. I can also confirm that The 8Bitdo M30 2.4G receiver non-Bluetooth version and receiver ($5 cheaper) also works with the Seagull 78 Controller Adapter. This will be the only way I will ever play 7800 games from here on out. This is absolutely the best way to play 7800 games. The M30 controller is the best retro wireless controller on the market IMO. https://www.amazon.com/8Bitdo-Wireless-Gamepad-Original-Genesis-Drive/dp/B07HB1XFQW/ref=sr_1_2?keywords=8bitdo%2Bsega&qid=1553808677&s=gateway&sr=8-2&th=1
