  1. A silly question regarding mod tracker performace, since I never coded this myself so I don't know how exactly it works: I know it needed at least 286/12 to just "barely" play some 16kHz mods via lpt. How can A8 (or even worse - 1Mhz C64) - which are (I roughly assume) about 30-50 times slower - play 8bit/11kHz over Covox or (4bit) even stock Pokey? Ok, it does not have to mix samples in one channel in sw, but that's just three adds per sample value (providing they were 6 bit most) no?
  2. Yeah I was trying Falcon to PC because in oposite direction I have SCSI CDROM to use for big files what is cumbersome but works. I wanted to backup all my contents on Falcon in case its CF card will die (or I'll do something nasty. ). So I never tried PC to Falcon direction until BadMood. What was a pure luck of me being lazy to search for an empty CDR. :-)
  3. (Nice) update: I just realized only Falcon->PC direction is slow (thanks to BadMood and my attempt to load it via network :-)) For PC-to-Falcon I got more or less those 40 KB/s maybe even a bit more what was pretty decent. :-)
  4. I managed to get it to 4KB/s by using real crosslink cable instead of leaving it on PC network card to handle with normal one. I didn't expect it would affect it but obviously it did. Still far from 20-40 KB/s though, thanks for the info. Maybe I'll play a bit with config files or maybe try to use different ftp server than filezilla.
  5. Hello. I have one question regarding this board (Lotharek version). After some troubles I managed to make it work on Atari Falcon with Sting on Falcon side and Filezilla on PC side. Problem is... it works but it is incredibly slow. Average transfer rate via FTP is about 1.4 KB/s what is practically within serial port speed range. Is this normal or is here some way to speed it up, perhaps by using different client-server programs or some configuration setting? What transfer rate you could get and with what programs on both Atari and PC side? Thanks.
  6. Hi. I'd like to get some (preferably 14", 15", 17" or 19") VGA LCD monitor for my Atari Falcon. However I want exact pixel mapping for 640x480 resolution what means I need a monitor with native 1280x960 matrix. However it seems there are only 1280x1024 monitors available. That would be fine *if* they can be set *not* to stretch 640x480 to their full vertical size but leave 32 pixels high blank strips up and down and so map every 640x480 Falcon VGA pixel to a perfect 2x2 square of their native resolution. Is there such monitor at all?
