Having gotten rid of all my A8 gear back in the 90s (sob!), I got inspired and decided to get back into it using emulators after having met Nolan Bushnell at a developer conference in 2010. As of last year, I'm SLOWLY acquiring some hardware: 800 48K 600XL XEGS All stock. This year, I'd like to add disk drives and perhaps mod the 600XL with as many upgrades as can fit in the case.

Hi brenski, I used to have an 800XL (NTSC) with a GTIA chip that couldn't show mode 9, although the other GTIA modes worked just fine. Any game/demo/intro that used mode 9 would give me a strange dark distorted screen that had lost "vertical hold". I remember the intro from Rescue On Fractalus!, which uses mode 9, exhibited this behaviour even though the game itself worked fine. I had also typed in a GTIA Paint program from an issue of Antic magazine which worked just fine, but I cannot remember (been more than 25 years since!) if it used mode 10 or 11. I think there is also a location you can POKE to see if the GTIA is working as expected however you'll need to search for it, or perhaps someone else can reply to your post. Regards, Mani

Up until the mid nineties, had a nice Panasonic dot-matrix and a PR Connection with my 130XE. Used primarily for Speedscript and the Atari Program Text Editor. Also had an XF551, XM301, magazines, books and tons of original disk software. Why, oh why, did I ever get rid of my old Atari stuff back then?!

I would like to purchase one as well.

The PAL 800 you see in my profile pic - back in Feb. Have since bid on a few things, but keep getting outbid. Probably best as this will become addictive and expensive.
