  1. Sorry I jumped the gun tillek but you know me. If it pops in my head if I don’t get it out right away it will disappear into the ether. 😂😂😂😂
  2. Alcatraz and FoReM Xe are running on the altirra emulator in portable mode. Portable just means I can run multiple instances of altirra on 1 windows account. I restarted Alcatraz when I found some old disks in my parents attic with a bunch of the old screens. With the help of John Polka I got it up and running. It has been running (for the most part) trouble free since 2017. FoReM came from a desire to play around with it. I used to run some hacked up version of FoReM I think in the very early 9os. But that didn’t last too long, but my early bbsing days everything was FoReM or a derivative. Amis helped tremendously in getting FoReM to run pretty much trouble free since it went up. I have had some issues as of late but that is pc related. The laptop I used to run the BBS’s on was limited when it was released and is a pain to work on. The BBS’s for the most part ran fine but if I needed to do anything say go on the internet and get the latest copy of altirra, well that was a long and slow process. I moved the BBS’s to my old MacBook Pro running windows in boot camp but that was short lived, moved it to (what I thought) was a newer windows box I had with a 2 core amd processor, but something was up with that pc as it kept rebooting, now I have it on an old i5 pc and it has been running so far so good. I haven’t been able to carve out too much time to sit down and go bbsing. I like to do that on real hardware. Hell I got a wimodem pro that I have yet to take out of the package. Like I may have mentioned being lazy, running on an pc in an emulator allows me to remote in to the pc and fix things or restart things right from my phone here. That wouldn’t be possible on real hardware. (At least not that I am aware of). Also, I missed out on a bunch of the ide hardware that was created for the 8 bit that allows fast hard drive access. I am not sure if a side 2/3 could handle a BBs but sd cards have a finite life. I also would not want to run my MIO 24/7. Those are delicate beasts to start with. I think the this Sunday might be the sysop zoom call. Contact tillek for the login info. I will try to make it. Hope I didn’t bore you if you made it this far.
  3. Correct me if I am wrong but on 8-bit you can go emulation or real hardware vs. only real hardware with st. It is my understanding that the st emulators can’t handle the modem portion of a BBs. But I could be all wet. I usually am. I am on emulation because I am too lazy to deal with real hardware. All props to darklord, tillek and the others that run on real hardware but for me emulation was too simple and a pc to run them on is a lot cheaper than fixing/replacing real hardware that is running 24/7 for not a real big amount of activity. That is just how I look at it. Don’t get me wrong, we have great activity and community on the boards but nothing like the 40-50 calls a day we used to get back in the 80s.
  4. Could you bottle Your ambition, time, and desire? I surely could use it! lol. I am sure this will be the most complete BBs built since the 90s! Look forward to visiting. (When I can find some tim! lol)
  5. I am sure you did but just in case, on the network are you using “host”? I know if I don’t use host as the network adapter on my synology it requires me to set ip addresses and all kinds of other things that are a pain in the but.
  6. I think this is the Validated one.Freesed dried term 220.zip
  7. Dumb question. Was the address for the BBs posted? Or is it just private testing. I was just wondering. If it’s not ready I understand, I just thought I was missing out on something. lol!
  8. Thanks so much. Very cool. Looks like it was a test BBs. There is only 1 password in the pass file and most of the txt files are just stock with a few changes. I have a feeling the BBs list may have been captured from another BBs possibly. thank you so much. Great to have a little peek into history. ps I didn’t look too closely into it but I am thinking it might be a FoReM 26m or xl. I did try to load it up in a stock FoReM xe setup I have but it didn’t load. Being the phone list is from 84 it is at best FoReM xl. I don’t think xe was released until 85. But I could be all wet on this. I don’t have a 26m test system and don’t have any copy of FoReM xl. (Still looking for that one).
  9. Very. Nice. Pre my time but some of the numbers look familiar. Can you make an atr of the data disk?
  10. Yes please make an atr or the disk
  11. I don’t think I ever tried it but I would think so. You would need to set the jumper block on the percom drive mech to ds1 instead of ds0. But I do know percoms like to take over the sio bus and doesn’t play nice with other peripherals sometimes. Rfd models are a little different (I think). There is and dipswitch block on the back of the drive that identifies where ds0 will start. I.e. ds0 on an rfd can be set to d3: But At-88s I think are specified by the jumper straps on the drive.
  12. I had the Supra 1o Meg and after the first crash I turned the drive so it was horizontal and put a little fan over the vent holes. Of course not knowing any better I had the fan blowing in. Man did those vent holes get dirty.
  13. I think that was what mine was doing. Then I took the hub off and couldn’t figure out where to put all the washers (doh!). I did manage to find a service manual but now it clamps down too hard. I have to be in a mood to deal with playing with fixing the floppy drives. I have a teac-fd series (80 track) that worked fine on my at-88 right when I got it but when I got an atr-8000 and the rfd-44/40 it stopped working properly. I am pretty positive it is ok I just can’t figure out what its problem is. Maybe next time I am in the mood I will work on the mpi again.
  14. I really like the look of those two teac drives in the perc case. I could be mistaken but I think one or two of my percoms can with tandon drives. My rfd-44 came with an mpi drive and a qume drive. Neither are working sadly. They were a casualty of my repairing my rfd-44 when I got it. But then again it has been years since I pulled them out. I know the mpi had a spindle issue. (Wouldn’t spin the disk).
  15. I had some issues as well. I have the side3/u1m/mio combo. I needed to change the pbi identifier to number 6. When it was set to default I could get the mio to work but it would start to do weird things with my typing. I have my mio hd set as d1 and d3 and the side3 is d3-dk.
