CASSETTE POWER

Sun Mar 10, 2019 9:28 AM

I thought I'd start a thread on the power of cassettes discussing utilities, games, hardware, etc.

I'll start it out with a dsk of utilites by Tonny Brouwer.

The most interesting program on the disk is Tape Streamer. It will copy a ss/sd disk to tape and back again. I tried it a couple of times and it seemed a bit fickle, but did work. I compared the "streamed" disk from tape to the original disk and it was exactly the same. I think this program runs at about 1200 baud as does other software on the dsk. Source files are on the disk as well.

The above disk contains SOUNDPORT EXPERIMENT I for use with a Minimem and cassette recorder.

Files on the disk:

DATAFORCE - DF/80 for use with disk system - see page 7 of doc below

DISKTAPE - Allows you to make a tape copy of the file SOUNDPORT for use with Minimem.

DO_OLDCON,DO_OLDSND,DO_SAVECON,DO_SAVESND,DO_SNOOPER - These files were written by Doug Otten, former VAST member - See page 6.

PROGRAM0 - This is the original Console basic program put out by DATAFORCE.

PROGRAM1.PROGRAM2,PROGRAM3,PROGRAM4 - These were extracted from the above, see docs.

Switching power supply

Fri Feb 15, 2019 5:49 PM

Ive got a switching power supply that took a dump. +5 and +12 are ok, showing correct voltage. The -5 line shows -4. Im assuming this is the problem. Any ideas of a fix?

SYSTEM BOOT UP

Sun Nov 11, 2018 7:44 AM

I sat down at my main system this morning and it will not boot up. The card led's flash from right to left normally until it gets to the memory card. The memory card stays lit up and I have a blank cyan screen.

At first I thought it might be a memory card issue so I replaced the Myarc 512 with a TI 32k. same results.

My card layout from left to right

Slot 1 - interface card

Slot 2 - TI RS232

Slot 3 - Myarc 512 memory

Slot 4 - Horizon ramdisk

Slot 5 - WHT SCSI

Slot 6 - emply

Slot 7 - Corcomp Triple tech

Slot 8 - Myarc DSQD disk controller

I also moved the memory card from slot 3 to slot 6 and the led stays lit in that configuration as well.

I am at a loss on what to do - Could it be the consoles powerup routine with expansion attached?

When I power up the console alone it seem to operate normally.

Any ideas?.

ASGARD PIXPRO

Thu Jul 12, 2018 7:23 AM

I've had a problem with Asgards PIXPRO since day one so I thought I'd see if one of our programmers can shed a 'hack' for it.

I use this program very frequently doing stuff for Yesterday's News and it works just great - EXCEPT - It will not recognize my Myarc 512k card set up as a ramdisk. The card uses CRU 1000 AND 1900 for some unexplained reason and I think that may be the root of the problem, but I'm not sure. I can set the ramdisk up as drive 1,2,3,4,5 and it makes no difference - PIXPRO will state an error. If I can get a hack for this it sure would speed up composing of the news.

BTW - Yeah, Same problem way back when I was doing VAST NEWS.
