  1. Hey all, I recently purchased a Philips VG8020/00 MSX Home Computer. I'm having some trouble getting a decent video signal out of the thing. When I hook it up to my VCR/DVD Combo via the RF out and convert the signal into composite, I get a glitchy screen, jumping from left to right, going from color to black and white. However, the MSX boot up text is present, and when I press keys on the keyboard, they do get added to the screen. I used the automatic tuning options on my VCR/DVD combo, but it sadly does not improve the quality. I also tried connecting a Sega Mega Drive RGB connector to the Monitor out on the computer, but that didn't do anything apart from making some pop noises. I might have to get a different cable to test that out. I also know for sure that my set-up isn't the problem; I've connected other coaxial game-consoles the same way (Atari 2600, Videopac G7000) and they all work. The unit looks fine and all (no mayor external damage). What I did notice though, was some noises inside the machine when I held it sideways; there could be some dirt in there. Also, some buttons get stuck from time to time (especially the directional buttons). I'll open it up and give it a good clean one of these days. Has anyone here experienced similar problems and got them solved? Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated! I hope the damage (if it has any) is not to severe; would be awesome to get it up and running again! Thanks!
  3. I just picked up an IntelliVision Master Component and I'm having some trouble getting it to work properly too. It did not come with cables, not that big of a deal I tought. Let's dig up an old power cable & the RF-Switch that came with my NES, that'll work right? Well, as I'm experiencing now, it isn't. The fitting of the video cable stops the plug from going all the way into the back of the IntelliVision, wich is very annoying. I also tried this via my DVD/VCR Combo and then using the composite-out as mentioned above; same results. So I've been looking online and saw al kinds of stuff about modulators to covert the signal from RCA into Coax etc. etc... but then I also found these (See pictures); Just a single "Male RCA > Male IEC cable" and a "IEC female > RCA Male Adapter" (I live in the Netherlands, so I need an IEC connection) Will these work just fine? They are a lot cheaper then getting one of those modulator thingies.
  4. I am looking for this very model. Do you know if it's available in Europe by any chance? One of the switches that comes to my mind is this one: http://www.konigelectronic.com/en_us/55874690 Altough it does not meet all of your requirements, it's a neat piece of tech for a affordable price.
  5. Thanks for the reply mate! I'm currently waiting for my VRC/DVD Combo to arrive! Nice to see that at least some of my intuition was right... lol When I get it I'll report any updates of it here. Also a thanks to Ottathemadandevil for approaching me on this issue!
  6. I really like Asteriods, Missile Command, Defender and Berzerk. When I have some friends over; Warlords, Street Racer and RealSports Tennis are the games that are played to death.

  8. Hey all, This is my first post here on the forums, so hi everybody! I adore classic gaming and I absolutely love my woodgrained six-switcher Atari VCS / 2600 System I bought a while ago. I love it so much in fact that I want to record the game footage off of the console. So I've searched the net and in many video's and topics I came across the word 'VCR' and 'DVD Recorder' so I went watching for one of those things. The thing is though that most of the topics are from overseas (I live in Europe myself, The Netherlands) so some inputs on the backs of the recorders are different. For instance, I don't have to connect a 'F-connector' to connect the output plug of the Atari into the VCR or DVD Recorder. So, in short; I did not find that much info about it in my own region. This is the method I think will work (I'm not into video electronics or anything, so please correct me if I'm wrong - just my intuition speaking here.) DVD/VCR Combo Player (HR-XV28S, Pictures & English Manual attached below). 1. My Atari VCS output plug will be connected to the AERIAL on the DVD/VCR Combo Player. 2. I will then use the RF.OUT to connect it to my ANTENNA IN on my television to see and hear what I'm actually playing. 3. I will then use the DVD/VCR OUT composite signal to connect it to my capture device and hit record on that. So, here are my questions: -Does a VCR/DVD player duplicate the antenna signal to a composite signal? (So that it comes out of RF.OUT and DVD/VCR OUT like I described above, I'm not certain about this.) -if it does, can I use it as a passtrough device (meaning, without recording anything on VHS or DVD-R) and send it directly into my capture device? Or does it need to record on physical media? -If not; does the signal only come out of one of the two outputs? (composite for example; I'm able to split this signal with some cheap AV 1-to-2 Splitters) Is this the correct setup (and way of thinking) for recording an Atari or any other coaxial retro gaming device? I really want to know! I hope you guys can help me with this, I've been struggeling with it for a while now. Thanks! HR-XV28S Manual.pdf
