  1. I don't think I removed an original from this NES. Seemed it was a very bad repop. Fit was very tight and had no markings. Do the original 72-pin have any indicators anywhere? I did keep it.
  2. Less awful Chinese one. Had good reviews from the comments. This NES was bulletproof with the old 72-pin, as long as you didn't lock the cartridge down. Your mileage may vary, but here it is: https://www.ebay.com/itm/194119910495
  3. 72-pin fixed it. Thanks for the replies/suggestions.
  4. 72-pin is super tight! Sounds like it is a cheap replacement. I tried to boil it recently, but nothing changed. Maybe I will try another 72-pin.
  5. When the cart is down the game does not read, but when I insert and the the cart in the up position it reads/plays everytime...Any ideas?
  6. Thinking about an organizer like this or original box for a 2600 vader.
  7. Let's see. First console was the 2600 in around '82. Sold at a yard sale for $50 with approximately 10 games (vaguely recall) in '85ish. NES in winter of '87, so answer to the closed poll is no. I vaguely recall getting River Raid new at a cost of $35ish dollars*. I can't seem to recall any further details. Now gotta dig for a River Raid box w/price to see how badly my memory has failed me in this case. Fun Stuff! *EDIT: Maybe $25 based on https://archive.org/details/RiverRaidAtari2600HiResScans
  8. Thinking about adding RCA jacks so I can play my 2600 on a modern TV. I have the perfboard, 2200, 3300 and the NPNs already laying around. Ordered the RCA jacks. Just wondering if this tutorial works for Vaders (4 switch)? Reading the comments at the bottom of that webpage it seems several have had problems with the mod working properly. Thanks for any input, just want to make sure before I jump in.
  9. Wonderful news! Will bust out the old VCR and see what happens.
  10. I do have a game inserted when powering on. I do have a VCR around here somewhere that I can test with. However, I did verify my NES adapter was working with the NES then tried both Ataris - neither Atari displayed a video signal- then verified NES adapter again with the NES after testing both Ataris and the NES always worked.
  11. Thanks John....ordered that yesterday, but it will take forever to arrive from China. In the meantime, I tried using my NES adapter and no video from either Atari. I did find people online claiming NES adapter working fine with their 2600s. Are both Ataris bad?
  12. Plug this into tv composite (VID2) and it should work (9v DC power is assumed)? I also tried stuffing the center wire (another cable cut in half) into my coax jack on tv while selecting channel 2 and, but did not get an image. Tried on two ataris; one jr and a vader that I mentioned in my initial post. Are they both bad ataris? I ordered a male coax to female RCA adapter, but it will be weeks before it arrives. I didn't get the box/uhf/vhf connector with these. When I power the Jr. on it uses about 300mah.
