#4238840 This is not Ultima (Atari 2600)

Love it!  Off to a promising start.  Totally not worried about not being centered.  Can't wait to see it progress

#4238168 What if...

Could you do something in the code to indicate that this is not the original?  Is there a title screen that could be altered to say "Boulder Dash MR" for Mass Release Edition or something, so that the original could never be mistaken for the ones sold to everyone?  Would that be fair?

Keep 'em here.  Always fun to see.

#4226616 2018 Atari Awards Voting Information & Discussion

Posted by StanJr on Sun Feb 24, 2019 1:31 PM

Mappy was just such a huge achievement that it was really hard to compete with in any capacity!    I'm surprised at Alpha Clucks, I need to give it a harder look I guess.  Great job Aardvark (that was a hotly contested category for sure) and Space Game!

And a big thanks to cimmerian and his team for putting all of this together!  It was absolutely fantastic!

I LOVE the concept and theme you have working here!  The play field looks great too!  I'm excited to see this develop.  Looks like classic arcade action with a fresh take!  Can't wait to see more!

#4207600 Alien Pinball

We definitely need more pinball games for the VCS.  The action on this game is really fast and I find I'm draining a lot early on, but once I've got few games under me I'm doing much better.  I even got the background scene to change!  Yay!

Yeah, I'm with everyone else on the slippery controls.  I'm using a game pad with Stella and I'm almost always going up or down two levels.  Love the theming!

#4207482 Bit Quest II new homebrew!

Posted by StanJr on Mon Jan 28, 2019 12:04 AM

Dude, this is great!  I loved the first one, this is even better!  Love the achievements.  Would love a super hard mode where maybe the enemies do double damage?  I thought it was a little easy until I got to the final castle and realized my mistake.  A super hard mode would make it extremely hard to win all 3 crowns.  Having the achievements really increases the replay value.  I love how big the world is and how diverse.  I love all of the different enemies.  I LOVE it icon for the stairs going down.  It took me a minute to realize what I was seeing, but once I did, it's fantastic.  Why hasn't that been drawn for stairs more before now?

Fantastic!  Can't wait to play it again!

#4204680 RVG Blast and RVG Blast 2 (Atari 2600)

I think I like 2 best, but I'm not entirely sure.  Are there instructions posted somewhere so I'm sure I know what I'm doing. I think 2 is stronger visually.  The checkered background is great!

Wow!  Love this game!  Made it to level 4 before my imminent demise.  The wind makes it very tricky to land without going splat!  Love it!  Boy it's busy up there in the sky!  This is a lot of fun to play!  Hard work is definitely paying off!

#4202606 Tumble Temple (Atari 2600)

Posted by StanJr on Mon Jan 21, 2019 2:05 PM

Yeah, I'm coming in a bit late to this, but am loving every second of it.  Great little action game.  The coins are a great addition.  Are you keeping the ceiling kill feature?  If so could the play field have spikes or something up there to warn the player of impending doom.  I like the idea, though, because it requires you to keep the tower right in the middle.  Sandy death below, spiky death above, gotta keep it just right!

There are no words to express the deep and disturbing love I have for what you have done here.  This is amazing.  I've been playing this for far longer than I should have today and I'm pretty sure it will consume many more hours of my free time as well.  Thank you.  This is impressive.

#4201285 Interview with Thomas Jentzsch

Posted by StanJr on Sat Jan 19, 2019 6:47 PM

One of the classiest guys in the classic gaming community.  Thomas is a brilliant talent and just an all around swell cat.  We need more interviews like these with the folks making stuff happen today to go alongside the interviews with the pioneers of VCS programming.  Thank you!

#4196606 Atari with a 2-year-old

Posted by StanJr on Sun Jan 13, 2019 9:01 AM

Love every part of it!  Thank you for continuing to share!  We also value old Sesame Street and despise the new stuff and soulless marketing ploys like Elmo and the move to HBO.  So I feel your pain.  Crazy curtains, love them!

Colors being way off is a sure tell of a PAL cart.  I've had that a few times myself.

Seamus is 6 now and has moved on to platformers like Super Mario Bros., but his sense of wonder and excitement is still firmly in place!  He's on the brink of being able to read, and once he does that, the world of RPGs and story driven games will open up and that will be an exciting time as well!

#4148657 Many questions about GRAVITAR

Posted by StanJr on Fri Nov 2, 2018 2:25 PM

I like the idea of the game, but I am absolutely miserable at it and playing games of this sort usually devolve into controller throws rather rapidly.  I just lack the finesse and patience require to master it.
