  1. Here's a news report from 1979 on the groundbreaking for the former NAP headquarters in Knoxville My hometown Greeneville, TN, an hour from Knoxville, was the site of much of Philip's TV assembly operations for decades until the early-2000's. They were the town's largest employer and occupied multiple building here. Everyone knew at least one person who worked for them.
  2. Amazing emulator! I got Brett Hull Hockey to run with it. There was some major flickering in-game, but by change the RISC and M68K to .5x, I was able to get eliminate most of it. Thinking of Rich Whitehouse as he fights cancer. Here's a capture I made of Steve Yzerman scoring a goal in BHH.

  4. It's not just video games, the HO-scale slot car hobby is suffering the same fate. Fairly common Tycos, Auroras, and Life-Likes are going for $40-$50 dollars on eBay and Facebook. And now the new trend is to purchase new Auto World cars from Hobby Lobby or new AFX releases online and price gouge them online? I've started supporting the cottage industry guys and honest retailers, as their products are priced reasonably, and they're keeping the hobby moving forward, and a FB friend of mine from a few hours down the road offered me a complete set of the new Auto World Trans America complete set for cost plus shipping, great guy ? I remember in the mid-80's, building my Atari 2600 collection from Revco (now CVS) Drug Stores for $5 a game. My hometown had 4 Revco stores at the time (2 now), so Mom and I would hit them all, as they would at time have different inventory.
  5. We got a White Christmas here in East Tennessee, first I remember in my 42 years.

Same here in North, GA, although we did have one about 5 or 6 years ago as well.

Are you sure you will remember?

I grew up in Maryville and went to college at UT. We had one or two white Christmases in the late 70's and early 80's. I'm loving all the pics on Facebook from friends back home.

  6. I remember them being in my hometown Wal-Mart (at the time recently converted from a Kuhn's Big K, which is how Walmart entered many Southeastern markets) and Howard Bros. (where Mom and Dad bought my 2600 when I was 4). The treat was going to the nearest mall and Hill's, which was an hour away, in particular Sears and Circus World Toys.
  7. Sim racing on triple screen setup: why did I wait so long?

Home built, i7-4790K quad core @4Ghz (liquid cooled), 16 GB RAM, EVGA GeForce GTX 1060 6GB, 3 Dell 27in. gaming monitors.

I've had to do some tweaking with the graphics, since I'm pushing 3 monitors, but it is amazing.  I'll try to get pictures later.

Been watching a bit of Jimmy Broadbent recently and have been toying with the idea but not sure I have the space. Even bought Assetto Corsa when it was on offer on Steam. But the force feedback on my Thrustmaster TMX isn't great with AC - works brilliantly with Forza 6 on the Xbone but something's not right with the setup on AC.

Currently I have a stool with some books leveling the left monitor out, I'll end up moving my rig another desk I have.  I've read that Assetto Corsa has great ffb, but it took a while for me to get it to feel right on my G27.

  8. I'm partial to ASUS or Gigabyte motherboards, Nvidia video, and Corsair cooling. Back in the mid-late 90's when I worked in tech before getting into teaching technology, I preferred Rendition video cards and Aureal A3D sound, since many of the Papyrus racing sims utilized them. I wish someone would find out a way to make a Rendition Verite wrapper, then I can play SODA Off Road in it's best state!
  9. Finally got time to get my old PS2 Logitech GT Force Pro set up with DriveHub, so I've been tinkering with Project CARS, Forza 5 and Forza Horizon 3. I'm thinking about getting Project CARS 2 or Dirt Rally 2.0 or NASCAR Heat 3, since I loved Dirt 2 Daytona and the addition of dirt track racing.
  10. YES! Rick Barnes is staying at Tennessee!

      Good decision.

  11. Only in Tennessee can a coach win Coach of the Year and leave the same day.

  12. Happy Retiremtnt from the announcers' booth to Darrell Waltrip. Was my favorite NASCAR driver growing up.

Slimey Pearl sets us back 10 years, then takes Auburn to the Final Four.

I'd be happy to be rid of Pearl regardless of what Auburn does. Barnes seems like a much better choice.

I love Rick Barnes. He brought the program back after Pearl, Cuonzo, and Tyndall wrecked it. We got lucky that he fell in our lap when he did.

  14. FIRE HOLLY WARLICK!!!

  15. Rendition Verite 2. Almost every sim racer had one, as most of the Papyrus sims exclusively supported it for 3d graphics. I knew after firing up classics like NASCAR Racing 2 and SODA Off Road that PC gaming would never be the same! Aureal 3D sound. Like the Rendition, Papyrus sims also supported A3D. With a 5:1 speaker system, being able to hear a car on your quarter panel was amazing!
