  1. Hello people, my name is Nac and I am a programmer. This is kind of a silly question, but I don't know if I can ask it anywhere else. I have never created a game in my life, but I have always wanted to make them, particularly one with some procedurally-generated content. Recently I studied some lenguage theory, and was thinking about making a "simple" game with heavy emphazis on dialogue and text parsing. My first draft was about making a text-based game in which you could talk to randomly generated NPCs to get away from ugly situations. In the end I decided I also want some kind of visual representation of what's going on, something easy-on-the-eyes yet simple to make. Thinking about it I recalled games like Pitfall, M.U.L.E or ET The Extraterrestial, which looked fairly nice but were not complex. Long story short, I am planning to procedurally generate Atari-like graphics, and you people know a lot about the Atari so I came to you first. What advises can you give me? How would describe Atari graphic style? What color pallets would do they use? What things should one avoid doing? Etc. Thank you before-hand, Nac.
