  1. Some of my favs through the years.... Intellivison PGA Golf GOLF NES 1984 Neo Turf Masters PGA Tour games on Sega Genesis Hot Shots games Not a fan of golf games that use the analog stick to swing and vastly prefer the 2/3 click method.
  2. Mainstream gaming lost it's way when all this big AAA nonsense started. It's a general trend that games now appeal to the common lowest denominator, instead of challenging the player to climb up to the game's level. The biggest thing to blame is the merging of game studios, the few big ones started buying every studio that put out anything good. With that the emphasize from artistic expression to making the biggest buck most efficiently. Instead of original ideas, game studios are now producing games using safe formulas that are kind of entertaining for players and that's the limit of it. With that most games have become steady riding (no real ups and downs), more fast paced, more automation in how the character controls, more grindy, always trickling the bare minimum to keep the player interested. As a result they also have become much less engaging.
  3. Thanks guys. Saw this thread and found the mug at my local Target.
  4. Yea, the fixed camera angles do a better job of giving it that 'horror movie type feel'.
  5. I actually have a modded PS2, but my search for a stick is more about playing mame/arcade games on the Xbox. But thinking about it, the PS2 has a bunch of the arcade collections, so it would be cool if I could use it for that also.
  6. So I've been having fun with various mame games and now I want to find a decent arcade stick. I already have this adapter.. http://www.play-asia.com/x-joybox/13/701fo ..and it seems like there were more quality sticks released for the PS1/2 as opposed to the Xbox. Anyone have any suggestions or experience with a setup like this ? Have my eye on this Namco PS1 stick as I hear it's good https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Namco_Arcade_Stick ...but have yet to pull the trigger on anything, as I want to be sure it's gonna work.
  7. Ended up throwing on MAMEoXtras v1.20 which even got an update up to a few months back. I'm actually fitting a lot more on there than I would have thought, even a bunch of Neo Geo games. Question about emulating the PS1 though.. What would be the better route to go out of these 2 options, a PSP with CFW or the Xbox ? (I have the psp component cable to go to the hd tv and with the xbox I have both cords, reg and component with the hd av pack) Displays I have are a 42"1080p panasonic plasma (which has some decent aspect ratio options) and a 19" RCA CRT TV. I know the PSP runs a lot of the original PS1 code natively and supposedly has a great emulator for it.. http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/investigating-the-psps-psone-emulator-article But you're missing a 2nd analog and 2 shoulder buttons with the PSPs controls also, so I guess a lot would depend on the game and if those buttons are crucial, which doesn't seem to be the case for most games. Don't know much about or how good this PS1 emulator for the Xbox is either. (PCSXBox)
  8. Yea, I guess I should just get a new hd for it now.
  9. Ok, I was wondering which one would be best one for me to get here. I already have the unleashx dashboard with various madmab console emulators on there. And I only have the 8GB stock hard drive, but I think I read somewhere you can still fit a bunch of the (older I guess ?) arcade games as long as it's not Neo Geo type stuff or something like that ? There's a bunch of them... http://xbmcxbox.blogspot.com/2013/03/complete-list-of-emulators-for-original.html
  10. 13 Shocking Facts about Fallout 4 That Will Forever Change the Way You Think about RPGs... http://www.rpgcodex.net/content.php?id=10267
  11. Torment: Tides of Numenera Original Sin 2 Underworld Ascendant Expeditions Viking Kingdom Come: Deliverance Seven Dragon Saga Don't know if Knights of the Chalice 2, Grimoire: Heralds of the Winged Exemplar will be this year
  12. Has anyone looked at the perk list ? First off, skills and traits are completely removed and if you look at the charisma and intelligence lines, there aren't any dialog related perks. Guess there's not gonna be different dialogs depending on the type of character you have. Seems less and less of a Fallout game to me the more I see and more of just another open world FPS, but I guess I should have figured as much with Bethesda.
  13. Don't forget DARK SUN and Ravenloft too ! For a proper D&D cRPG experience...Gold Box Forgotten Realms series starting with Pool of Radiance. You can transfer your characters from one game to the next. You might want to create a few new characters in Curse of the Azure Bonds though, cause they didn't have Rangers and Paladins in PoR. I just multiclassed the ones I knew I would be dumping in Curse. EotB is more of a Grimrock style/real time dungeon crawler. It's ok, but If you want to stick with this style game, I'd recommend Dungeon Master and especially Chaos Strikes Back (which is known as the pinnacle of these particular sub genre)
  14. SNES also has an great port of Wiz 5 too, Here's an awesome tool for mapping if you don't feel like breaking out the graph paper, btw.. http://www.davidwaltersdevelopment.com/tools/gridcart/
