  1. I must say I didnt expect svideo to make such a huge difference but it did. I was having issues with color bleeding/artifacts using composite which in turn made me think of using svideo. Colors off thread: http://atariage.com/forums/topic/238287-colors-off-even-after-adjustment/?hl=%2Bsvideo&do=findComment&comment=3239311 I ended up purchasing one of these Monoprice Composite, S-Video, and HDMI to HDMI Converter/Switch so that I could have my NES, 2600 and Wii hooked up at the same time and output over HDMI: http://www.monoprice.com/Product?c_id=101&cp_id=10114&cs_id=1011406&p_id=9994&seq=1&format=2 As you can see the blacks are black, images are sharp and the color is amazing. Note, that even when using composite it was still being upscale and upconverted using my Denon amp which outputs over HDMI. I will have to do final adjustments in regards to the colors however its almost there
  2. Thanks everyone for the replies.. I should have said Composite NOT Component in my initial post. Apologizes
  3. All my devices are connected to my Denon amp which upscale and upconverts to one HDMI cable to my tv. My TV is a 70" Sharp LED, unfortunately no S-Video input
  4. Right now I have a modded 2600 light sixer using ElectronicSentimentalities board (svideo/composite) with composite video. I was wonder if s-video would greatly improve the video image? Since my Denon AVR-9313 amp has everything but an S-Video input I was looking at something like this: http://www.monoprice.com/Product?c_id=101&cp_id=10114&cs_id=1011406&p_id=9994&seq=1&format=2 I thought I saw comparison screenshots before (rf / composite / s-video) but I can no longer find them. That and real world reviews would be appreciated
  5. Thanks everyone for the response. In regards to the blue and green/yellow color bleeding in my images, is this normal? what is the cause?
  6. Yes, I did that to adjust the image in the Test Pattern screen. On the sixer one needs to open up the unit to get to the adjustment pot. TITLE PAGE - contains the copyright notice "copyright © 1983 Video Soft", indicating that this program is protected under Title 17 United States Code. This screen also contains the color adjustment pattern for the Atari VCS ™ color generation circuits. The VCS generates audio and video signals using digital electronics. The color phase angles are generated by delaying the color signal until the desired phase angle is selected. An adjustment potentiometer is placed on the VCS console circuit board to adjust the 360 degree delay so that it is the same as 0 degrees. Although we do not recommend that you void any warranty on your game console, the potentiometer (the only one) can be adjusted so that the top half of the colored box is as close to the same color as the bottom half. The color generation circuits can then correctly produce colors from 0 to 360 degrees. https://atariage.com/manual_html_page.html?SoftwareID=934
  7. I have an AV modded light sixer running component video (no svideo on my tv) w/ Harmony Encore cart w/ Sharp LED I have a few questions: 1) Correct me if im wrong but isnt one supposed to adjust the Test Pattern screen's top and bottom section to as close a color as possible? Ive seen images online where the bottom shows darker than the top while others say to match them. 2) There seems to be blue and yellow/green color bleeding on the test screens and games, is this a common problem? 3) Kaboom and Pitfall seem too green? How does one get correct color representation? (I suppose this goes back to question 1)
  8. Such as? I guess the better question is the extra money for the encore worth it? is the microsd version an "updated" board or is it the same with just a different memory reader? I find homebrews interesting but as im totally new to this I thought id ask
  9. Just wondering if someone could tell me which unit is worth getting? Im not concerned about the deluxe version as I have many usb cables and memory cards kicking around (sd and mini) Im in Canada so the cost overall is fairly expensive due to the conversion rate (30% more). I contacted Batari via PM (along with email) but no response yet.
  10. Composite/s-video modded 2600 light sixer -> Denon up-converting / up-sampling amp -> Sharp 70" LED I have my NES (w/Wireless NES Satellite) and my 2600 hooked up I made/cut/built a custom TV cabinet for all my equipment
