  1. The "problem" with Tower Toppler is that it was programmed using the maximum resolution available. To achieve this, they had to reduce the color palette and on-screen colors to 2. Also, this game was made for the XEVGS, some of the new games for this machine won't work propperly in older machines due to memory mapping, OS incompatibility, RAM requirements, Video chipset, etc. Another game that has the same artifacting problem is the original 1982 Choplifter, also from Broderbund. Is there a master list of "artifacting" games? By the way, I have played Tower Toppler on the Atari800DC emulator for Dreamcast and it plays quite well.
  2. It seems to be working correctly now. Thank you VERY much. I also found those lines that called the printer and was the first thing that I removed. I think the original listing must have some typos. I hope somebody with an ANALOG magazine collection can find those corrections to know what those LPRINT commands were for if they were not a mistake in the first place.
  3. Sorry. It was quite some time ago and the place where I found it ran out of games (I also found at the same place a 7800 Tower Toppler for only US$0.70). Anyway, if you ever come to Mexico, try to find a Flea Market (they call it "tianguis" [the u is silent], there are plenty of them across Mexico City). I have found plenty of classic and rare games at prices from US$0.50 to US$5.00. For an instance I found a boxless 2600 Gremlins and a 2600 Crazy Climber (also without box) at only US$0.50 ea.
  4. Those prices are unbelievable. I got a Crystal Castles cart sealed in its box a couple of months ago by only (read and cry) MEX$17.00 (about US$1.50).
  5. Hi. I hope someone can help me. I typed-in this game I found in the Digital ANALOG project; it worked, however in the version of the game in which the Atari has to guess your number, I have an error I can't fix. I have attached a ZIP file with both the ATR disk image and the BAS file. The listing and descriptioin of this game are at this address http://www.cyberroach.com/analog/an04/comp3.htm comp3.zip

  7. I found a .cas file I could load into my XEVGS via the SIO2PC cable and the APE program. With this I have been able to copy some of the few games available in the CAS format into real cassettes. This program should also be useful to record from the SIO to WAV to make a master CD from which you can make new copies without the distortion (therefore errors) the old tapes might have or convert the WAV's to CAS. I hope you can also find it useful. zzz_unk_casdup20__1982__vervan_.zip
