  1. Thanks to everyone for the info. I finally got my Ultimate 1MB installed without having to do any drilling or soldering thanks to the bracket above and this: https://www.tindie.com/products/devzine_pl/sally-adapter-for-atari-xlxe-and-ultimate-1mb-mod/ In addition to everyone who was kind enough to share info on here I also owe a big thanks to Pawel Mandes who made the sally adapter for his help when I made installation errors.
  2. Nice. Is there a link for the 800XL version you mentioned?
  3. Yes, that's what they made and installed for this order.
  4. So, you don't think I have a defective cable that needs to be replaced?
  5. Brewing academy sells a long one with it as an option.
  6. Hey all, I just installed a Sophia 2 in my 800XL. When I type sometimes the screen quickly blinks and comes right back like it's a short or something. The RF shield is off so nothing is pressing down on the Sophia itself. In experimenting I just noticed that if I move the path of the ribbon it seems to go away. When I had it running to the right and then up to the hole out the back it had the glitch. However, when I run it up to the top first and then right and out avoiding the middle of the board, it seems to no longer happen. is this a coincidence or is there something possibly shorten on the board that I need to be concerned about? Here are photo's of the two paths. First is the path across the middle that had the glitch and the one on the right is the one that does not.
  7. Forgive my ignorance here but are you saying you have to use a real floppy for game saves? I know I'm missing some logic here. Dumb it down for me please. Thanks..
  8. So, I put the game I'm playing in position 1 and hook up a 1050 with a blank disc? Wouldn't the 1050 then be in position 1 since there isn't an SIO out on the SIO2SD?
  9. I have tried reading tips in different places and am still having trouble with the following using my SIO2SD. I tried searching for answers but thought I would ask you all directly. 1 I'm playing a game and need to save progress. How do I do this? 2 How do I change the display where I can see the entire filename? The right side is cutoff. I found a post that supposedly contained the answer but I wasn't seeing the right thing to do. Thanks!
  10. Hey all, I got my Sophia 2 and ordered one of these to convert DVI to HDMI because that's the input that my monitor uses: https://www.ebay.com/itm/265970332689 My plan was to use also my Composite audio cable from Best Electronics at this link: https://www.best-electronics-ca.com/Atari CV E2 cable.htm I was going to plug the audio outs from that into the the Starlink converter and the HDMI to my monitor to carry both audio and video. Well, it turns out my monitor doesn't have audio outputs so instead I assume I need to find some tiny speakers with RCA inputs to plug into instead. I'm just wanting something small and super basic but the ones I'm finding don't have RCA inputs but use USB or 3.5MM. So, should I buy a cable converting the RCA to 3.5MM and use one of those or is there something simpler I'm not thinking of? Thanks all!
  11. I'm also curious about how to do audio.
  12. Hi, I'm looking to getting an Ultimate 1MB installed in my 800XL and I'm not comfortable doing the soldering etc. myself. I live in the Tulsa area and could always take it to an electronics repair place but wanted to see if there is someone near me that is familiar installing those. Thanks!
  13. Hi, is it ring bound like the original mapping book to allow for easily laying open on the table?
