  1. For kicks after cleaning Activision carts and finding they still didn't work, I tried blowing on the contacts and low and behold, most of them worked. I am wondering why this works? Blowing on contacts isn't suppose to work but it seems to. The Atari consoles I have all have clean game ports and the game contacts are clean as well. Obviously the ones the are truly fried don't work with anything but I am curious if others have noticed this with Activision games. Thanks.
  2. Thanks for the link. It was a good read. I have to admit how impressed I am with the heavy sixer graphics and color...just seems sharper than the light sixer....just my opinion.
  3. That's interesting. The board on this one has the heavy plastic. I love it
  4. I bought a Sears Heavy Sixer and it worked before I cleaned it all up. Then it wouldn't work at all. Any suggestions? Power supply and RF cable are good. I thought it might be the on/off switch. So I removed it and I broke one of the copper pieces that is in the plastic part of the switch. All the soldering looks good. I'm frustrated and I'm not sure what or how to test stuff with a multimeter. I have a digital and analog multimeter but I am a newbie and don't know what to look for so any helpful hints are greatly appreciated. Thanks
  5. I am so excited. I got a "light" sixer and when I got it, the bottom said Sunnyvale even though it was a light bottom. Then I notice the grey a/c supply...opened it up to clean and found this. I compared it to my true light sixer and I do believe I got a heavy with a light bottom. The colors are incredible. I love it. Think I will now sell my true light sixer...or maybe I'll just collect one of each.
  6. Thank you. I am getting into restoring Ataris 2600s and I am just a newbie wanting to learn everything I can. I love this forum....it's awesome!!! I forgot just how much fun Atari could be.
  7. Hi all, I was wondering if the "static strip", the aluminum/foil looking piece that goes on the switches under the foam washers needs to be all once piece. I took apart a 4switch woody and the foil came apart between two switches. Is there a way to reattach them or can it be used as is? The console works great but I just was wondering. thanks.
