  1. If they become available for Order I'm very interested in one. So I'll try to monitor when I can start sending a PM, rather than flood you in PMs.
  2. You can add me to the list. I can wait patiently given the long list.
  3. I realize he'll use the VGA mod. The reason I ask this question is because I looked into this myself. Capturing VGA is not as a straightforward as you'd think. A casual search will yield devices around the 300 dollar range. Most sub 100 dollar capture cards only work with either HDMI or DVI. Hence the question on what hardware he's using to capture it.
  4. What are you going to use to record footage directly from the Lynx?
  5. Thankfully I'm only running one lynx with the McWill mod because 4 mods is a bit too expensive for me. I'll admit to not having tested it for long amounts of time. But I did of course test it and didn't seem to run into any serious problems. The main reason for doing it like this was to avoid just having the joint just be taped together.
  6. I have four functional Lynxes and while the original adapter is great, it's also extremely bulky. One of my plans with my Lynxes is to be at a Retro Gaming event with all four lynxes for some Rampage fun (and maybe other games as I get multiple copies). Inspired by vextrexroli, who mentioned in one of his video that he modified an adapter and attached a car adapter wire to it, I created this four way adapter. To make the splitting point look somewhat pretty I emptied the contents of a car adapter and opposite to the default cable slot I made another slot. The adapter wire I fed through the hole left by taking out the car adapter tip. The specific adapter I used is this one http://www.allekabels.nl/ac-dc-adapter/7207/3588/universele-ac-dc-adapter.html(I have no affiliation with this store this is just where I got it). It can supply 1.4A at 9 Volts. For four Lynxes you need about 1.2A in case you're looking at other adapters. In terms of connecting the mantle of the connector is the negative the inside is the positive. After you connect the two car cables make sure the outside of the plug is in connection with the other side. That'll tell you you connected them correctly. I'm sharing this purely in case other people need or want something similar.
  7. Awesome! I'll use it (without save option) to showcase it at a Retro Gaming Event, just to show what the lynx can do. I wouldn't mind getting the cartridge anyway.
  8. Ah okay, thanks for the explanation. I suspected it would be something like that.
  9. I've been wondering about the Lynx screen mod. Currently the backlight switches between the new screen and the VGA out. Was there a reason to not support having both screens on? The reason I'm asking is because I intend to set up a Lynx gaming table at a retro event. And it would be cool if the players could be restricted to their screen while others can also see what is happening. Now obviously this is not a must, can just put the other players out of view of the larger screen but mostly just wondering.
  10. Personally I would love to see something like Scorched Earth on the Lynx. If I ever get the courage I might try to learn coding for the lynx and give it a try. But it would be fun both with comlynx or just passing the lynx around.
  11. Dinolympics I managed to pick up a cartridge for less than what it tends to go for. Though it's still fairly hard to find. Dinolympics is the Lynx port of The Humans, a Lemmings inspire puzzle game. Thoug it's nothing like Lemmings in how it plays. I'm not sure why the name Dinolympics was used as it suggests a more sports like game (something like Caveman Ugh-Lympics), but there you have it. In the game each level you're given a goal and a number of humans to achieve it. You control each human individually and switch by pressing option 1 and the D-pad. The humans can't do much, on their own they can only support another human creating a human ladder. But by picking an item they can get other abilities such as jumping, throwing, guarding, and various others. Your tribe starts with 10 people if one of your humans dies he's replaced. Each level has a minimum number of humans required. If you don't have enough humans to complete the mission it's game over. Though you can gain new tribemembers in some levels. You also get a time limit on each level if the time runs out it's game over. This time limit is what makes this game artificially harder. The puzzles do get complicated as you progress but while the first level has 4 minutes for a puzzle that can be solved in 30 seconds. The second puzzle had 3 minutes on the clock and needs at least 2 minutes to solve. Doesn't leave a lot of time to muck around. To get a better idea of the game I looked up the original PC version on an abandonware site. Surprisingly all the graphics are different. While I don't think they had to be changed that much. The puzzles are also completely different. And the timelimit on each level is a lot better too, around 7 to 8 minutes. Another the thing PC version has is 80 levels compared to the Lynx's 25 levels, and a password each level. This is my only major gripe with this game on the lynx, you only get 1 password every 5 levels. Failing a level means you have start again from the beginning. This can get frustrating since you don't have a lot of leeway each level to complete the puzzle. So final verdict. It's fun, the puzzles are challenging. But it could have used levelcodes per level. And more levels.
  12. Got mine in the mail last week. But I haven't decided which Lynx to build it into. I bought a broken one on a local marketsite for which the seller claimed the screen was broken. Turns out the mainboard is probably fried. So I swapped the mainboard with one from another Lynx (because this one had a pristine shell), and it turns out the screen is in perfect condition. My original old Lynx is fine too apart from a few broken pixels on the screen. HOwever that one was opened up long ago by my dad to fix it and he used some kind of strong glue to attach the rubber grips. Not sure how to remove those. Though I'm getting another Lynx (plus large bag) today so maybe that one will make a good candidate. I only wanted a few more games for my old Lynx, honest.
  13. I tested it and something behind the shield heats up very quickly. Which I guess means something is seriously broken. A bit of a shame. If anyone has suggestions on how to go about it I'd love to know. Otherwise I'm going to swap out the mainboard with that of another lynx which has less pristine outer shell.
  14. The plastic used seems similar to the plastic in those collectible binders (like magic cards). Is this the case? And are there any risks of static buildup harming the cartridges? I ask this as that type of plastic is prone to get very static.
  15. And the resurrection keeps going. Bought a broken Lynx with games (80 euros for basically 22 games and a broken lynx, of which 14 games I didn't have yet). Now I was aware the lynx was broken, the seller believed the screen was broken. But I'm not so sure. Inserting a cartridge and powering it on works in that the backlight goes on and the speaker gives the customary 'pop' when starting a lynx. But then nothing happens. The previous owner apparently used some kind of alcohol/benzine based cleaning agent to clean the connector (royally at that). Now I'll do further testing and compare it to another functional lynx I have. But if someone has ideas or suggestions on what could be wrong, I'm open to suggestions.
