  1. Thanks I will check tv's settings, thank you. To be honest, I had a ton of floppies collected from job lots. I just threw all the copies away, as I couldn't work out which ones are destroying the disk drive. I'd clean it, run a few disks and then some crud would transfer to the heads and destory the next disk. I've kept all the official disks and demo disks.
  2. Hi, I've been having a clear out of some old floppies since they keep destroying my disk drive. I've put aside all the demo discs from magazines such as: ST User ST Format Atari ST Review ST World ST Action Does anyone have any use for these?
  3. I've attached the image this time, I don't think this forum likes ctrl+v posting of images. I do have a ultra satan but I also have a huge box of disks, maybe a few hundred I like to explore. I appreciate the link, I am pretty sure I have copies of DD and DOC, its just I have a handful of boxed original games which I wanted to keep but I also just happened to break those ones. I'm surprised the scart doesn't work on this tv, this is the one I bought years back and I'm pretty sure it worked on my LCD but obviously not on my CRT: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/321231353702?ViewItem=&item=321231353702&ssPageName=ADME:L:OU:ES:3160&euid=e7e17962cdc64e1eb77d5373328be2a8&exe=10062&ext=100155&sojTags=exe=exe,ext=ext&mkevt=1&mkcid=7&mkpid=0&emsid=e11401.m1842.l3160&ufes_redirect=true
  4. So embarrising. Surprised it could read anything in that state. It's working now. The bad part is; its scratched and broken two boxed games I own (Double Dragon and Defender of the Crown). They wont play now, they have a huge line in them. Thank you for responding Zoggin Hell.
  5. Hello all, I recently took my Atari 520STFM out of storage. I remember trying to fix this problem before but gave up and now I want to try again. The ST boots to GEM and I can read the directory of the disks very quickly e.g. double clicking the drive and view the contents. As soon as I want to load a .prg such as a game it will show the message "Data on the disk in drive A: may be damaged. You muse the right kind of floppy disk you must connect your hard drisk properly". I tried a few disks with the same error and it wont auto boot the disks on reset. Any suggestions please, I've attached some images. A side issue I'm not too worried about; RF loads fine, scart seems to appear in black and white and jump about the screen. I believe I read on this same forum that some CRTs are not compatible with the signal the the ST sends. Thank you in advance.
  6. I have about 10 originals (e.g. official branded disks). If you're really interested, you can see here, this is just the game disks: https://goo.gl/photos/2uWNkXjmDy3QttReA https://goo.gl/photos/z99DW6RNJGdgKRQh8 https://goo.gl/photos/R2eS8ZtK6463V32R7 https://goo.gl/photos/YtHGaknVPuYGY8E96 https://goo.gl/photos/wnMgPLQKjvgYCP3L9 https://goo.gl/photos/3SV8pTmN98iqf9MN8
  7. Sorry @Paranoid (I saw DragonStomper but that's the rank). I'm ok with paying for the SD card. The guy who owns the site is really helpful and he's gone above an beyond to help me with my ST. A bit like yourself. I actually posed this questions to him first but he's been busy. Ok my only last issue was the fact that program doesn't work on windows 8 (does it work with compatibility mode?) and yes I see the first partition is visible as described above. Thanks again, Oliver
  8. @Dragonstomper Thank you for this, I am little clearer now. To clarify the SD card I have: http://www.ataristsales.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=193 This SD card is MS-DOS (FAT16)/ATARI TOS ASCI partitioned so is readable on modern computers as well as the Atari ST running a SatanDisk, UltraSatan or similar SD card based hard drive emulation hardware. So to recap, I understand the file system a bit clearer now and you clarified the ability to use a normal SD card in the machine. I assume I can move the files using the following: http://atari.8bitchip.info/drimus.php Actually moving the files off disk to sd might not be so easy - Therefore me actually sharing my collection might not be so easy?
  9. Hello, I spent a lot of the weekend reading up about the Ultrasatan but I still have some questions I want to be 100% sure of before I make any mistakes. What I have: > Atari ST520 >STFM >2.5mb Upgrade >TOS v.1.02 >GEM v0.13 >AES v.1.20 Ultrasatan Cased (external) and Ultrasatan ACSI cable V 1.1: https://photos.google.com/photo/AF1QipPaIIMWpGqA1IoaE2qrt5rQ_vKN72Nxos4tnrl6 Atari UltraSatan and SatanDisk SD Card READY TO USE This is what I know or think: The card is already partitioned into sections of 200mb. The Files - I'm not asking you where to download them, but I assume they need to be converted first into TOS or .PRG? So is there a convertor program? I found a .img file but I also found a load of .swr files and the names seem to represent what I am looking for but I haven't tried using them yet. Then I guess I need to move the files to the card with a program? I assume the 2nd card slot can be used to move games from a normal sd card (not setup to work with TOS) between the two SD cards but there is probably a Atari ST program you need to use when you are moving files within the atari st and not on your PC. Thanks, Oliver P.S. Are we allowed to talk about where to get the games from? FYI I have some 1000 disks and I plan on sharing e.g. giving back to the community in case I have something that's not online.
  10. Thank you, I am actually using the same lead but to scart instead of composite. I'm just wondering how I save it to digital video now. For example with HDMI I use "hauppauge pvr rocket" which has the HDMI cable coming in and out. How do I do that for this scart connection? Sorry if I am not making sense and I appreciate the help.
  11. No problem, the fact there's still people out there willing to help for free is good enough for me. So thanks for letting me join the forum. Checking through the disks, there's a real gold mine of history. I'd like to share this with people but I need to find out how to record scart suggestions would be appreciated.
  12. As they say; "Sharing is caring". For those that are interested I fixed the problem. I opened it up and resat all the chips and made sure all connections were working. I managed to get it to boot as normal after that. Thanks, Oz

  14. Hello, Recently I just purchased a Atari 520ST. I don't know its previous history but it stated: Atari STFM 2.5mb Upgrade TOS v.1.02 GEM v0.13 AES v.1.20 Here are some image links (they are too big to upload to the forum). One of the error, the wires and one of my new collection. I believe the machine came from the UK and I bought a rgb scart and a new ac power as it didn't come with either. I'm really hoping there isn't a voltage issue but I would guess it wouldn't even show me a white screen. WSOD: https://goo.gl/photos/dPC3GGcc9pfaGr7Y8 Leads: https://goo.gl/photos/UwJWkSgCbKKk44ti8 Disks: https://goo.gl/photos/kKc99LeziGcNqBHC7 Machine: https://goo.gl/photos/gpWY9zsvqKLXxsqy7 Can you help please or ask me if I need to test anything else. Thank you, Oliver
