  1. I don't think that you could do without the cd drive attachment on the Mega-CD, you'd still need it for all the extra functionalities it adds to the Megadrive with all the customs chipsets and all. But you could do away with the CD block itself and use an SD-card instead, like the GDEmu or Rhea do. It's just a way to avoid using optical medias and not fear the death of the CD drive, as they will eventually all die.
  2. Ok, I was not aware of that. As I'm not too much into the Jaguar myself I didn't follow very closely your progress on that. So you can run Jag CD games on your Jag SD cart without a Jag CD drive? That is very cool!
  3. Flavor's wonderswan cart is really nice, and I enjoy it. It has a micro-sd slot, but it's not used yet, and I do hope it will be used eventually. But who knows if it will ever be? At the moment I still need to rely on a software on my computer to transfer a limited amount of roms to the cart. As for the CD systems, I only mentioned the Sega-CD because most other systems have working solutions: - Dreamcast has the GDEmu and a couple more - Saturn has the Rhea/Phoebe and another one is in the work already - Playstation has PS-IO (compatibility is not as good as the other ODEs, but getting there) - 3DO has a good solution from mnemo (forgot the name) - PC-Engine CD-Rom is THE one missing a good solution as of now, but Deunan (GDEmu/Rhea's creator) is apparently not too far from having a working device - PS2 and more recent consoles all have hard drive or SD-Card solutions (GC, Xbox, Wii, 360, PS3) So, out of the remaining ones, I (personally) find that only the Sega-CD has enough good titles to warrant such R&D work. Well, it would be nice if a solution existed for the PC-FX or the Jaguar CD, but you'd have a hard time selling enough of these to cover the development costs, I reckon.
  4. Here are the ones I'd love to see: - a micro-sd based flashcart for Wonderswan - a backlighting and/or a tv-out solution for Wonderwan - a backlighting and/or a tv-out solution for Neo-Geo Pocket - an optical drive emulator for Mega-CD/Sega-CD One can dream! Thanks and keep up the good work, SainT!
  5. Looks awesome! Now that this thread has officially turned into a pre-order list, please add me too. And thanks for the hard work!
  6. While I agree that the backlit GBA screen in the AGS-101 is a huge improvement over the crappy frontlit AGB-001 and AGS-001 it is still a relatively mediocre screen when compared to today's standards and McWill's screens. The contrast and colors are good, but the ghosting... meh. But the most important thing that is missing is the VGA out. The VGA out on the Lynx is awesome, (and I can't wait to receive my Game Gear modded by McWill!), and I would love to play my GBA full screen on a VGA monitor! And I say that even though I just spent quite some cash on a modded GBA AGB-001 with an AGS-101 screen. Still, I'd buy a McWill-modded GBA without thinking twice, and I'm sure it would be much better! Same for NeoGeo Pocket and Wonderswan, that would be awesome, especially considering those handhelds cannot be modded with a back light, just a better-than-nothing front light, and there are no RGB/VGA out options at the moment. On the other hand I'm a bit less interested in getting the screen/vga out mod for the PC Engine GT/TurboExpress and Nomad: while I love those systems, their games can already be played in full RGB glory on a big screen using a regular PC Engine/Turbografx16 or a Megadrive/Genesis. Good screens would be still be cool though. Anyway, thanks McWill for those amazing mods!
