  1. Sounds like an interesting idea. You have my attention......
  2. Keep this address handy. This is a great site for finding old manuals, disks, etc, and is always being updated. https://commodore.bombjack.org/commodore/index.htm There's the main address.
  3. Back when I entered that url I tested it, and it worked. Now I get that darned 404 error too. I don't know what happened. Sorry.
  4. I think you have to open the computer and visually inspect the board. The boards should be #250469 for the short board, and # 250466 for the older style.
  5. Is your C-64C a short board version? I was going the get this cartridge, but even my C-64C is an older version (longboard in other words, like a breadbin).
  6. Corrosion can cause more trouble than people think. I live by the Chesapeake Bay, which can very humid in the summer, causing all sorts of problems with corrosion. If you can see any hint of corrosion, clean it up before you do anything else! Corrosion can not only cause problems with your display, it can cause problems at any port on your computer, from the Cartridge port to the User port and any and all in between. It can even cause problem with switches....
  7. In the U.S. if you have an ACE hardware store in town, (or any good hardware store) and know the screw size, they are easy to get.
  8. I have one, and I don't like it. My C-64C is easier to use, and can do more. I can't say I never use it, but it doesn't see much use here. The Mini's main use, is at parties when I don't want the drunks pounding on my real hardware.
  9. I replied to your post on Lemon64, but I guess you never checked back? There is a word processor for the C-128 that has a feature so custom macros can be inserted anywhere you want/need. It's called The Write Stuff 128 (BB Writer). It doesn't use fonts the way GEOS does, but is good at controlling the printer. All in all a good program.
  10. An old ribbon may well be rather light. They will dry out. The Star were OK printers with the exception of the "C" variety. You can revive it with WD-40, but your print out will stink like WD-40. have new ribbons jumped that much in price? Just asking......
  11. That's what I was looking for, but could not remember the proper name. Many thanks. @ Geister - this is the one you want - forget my post.
  12. It depends on where you're located. The North American Commodore PSU is not safe to use, period. I have seen more than a few "purists" try the rebuild, but it usually costs them several RAM chips, maybe the PLA, and a few assorted other parts, and then a new power supply. It's far less expensive to either build a new power supply, or buy one. The North American Epoxy filled PSU just is not safe to use! The European PSUs were build a little better, and at least can be rebuilt. There is a fellow in Washington State (I think) who also makes great power supplies. He may be scaling back though.....
  13. I used to use Font Master II, from Xetec (they also made great printer interfaces). Even programs like Speed Script, Super Script, and Word Writer were good. Word Writer's 128 programs were quite good. There are several down load sites for Font Master II. Try it, you might like it.
  14. I think this is the latest version of Simon's Basic; https://commodore.software/downloads/download/10-basic-extensions/958-simon-s-basic-v3-1 Hope this helps.....
