  1. Thanks BigO. The links to the Pong description contained a wealth of information! Manual said about 12 inches length (300mm). shorter will desensitise it and longer will make it more sensitive. I figured that the raster rate would be 60Hz. Here in New Zealand, ours is 50Hz. My test TV is 50HZ (only?). Time to dig out my trusty Amiga monitor! Thanks for the help. I see that MAME now supports Space Race. It IS quiet fun to play!
  2. I am reading about the V and H generation. 50Hz / 60Hz question of mine will unfearl. Cheers for the link. Time for a drink.
  3. Also 50Hz / 60Hz raster rate. I will look into that. Cheers.
  4. Mr BigO, I also own several Tank boards. This scared me a little. Interesting though! I am sure I have a Pong board about. 2012, how did your reproduction go BigO?
  5. Hey BigO. I did like The Traveling Wilburys... Thanks for the links to documents you provided. That was just what I am looking for. A description of how it works. Pretty neat for back then. FPGA is the way to go today. I am not a programmer. I stil need to read the documents. I understand the VCO chips (NE566) and how they generate sound. Video generation is pretty cool. I am an ex TV tech with basic knowledge of how composite video works. Generating video with TTL chips is pretty cool. Wait until I figure out the reset circuit (which has been modified by someone way back. I think I can get this monster to work. Thanks both of you. More to follow. Cheers.
  6. Thank you sir! I am tripping over a fault with the board. Funny electronic design. Being that there is no CPU / RAM / ROM, this board is a challenge. I need some time I think, to work out what is going on with the circuit (Understanding it). Pretty interesting. This project is a good learning curve. I am replacing all electrolytic capacitors, as the 555 chips use these to generate game time and fuel indicator measurement. I have schematic diagrams, which I have touched up. Removed rubbish and merged two into one. I can upload if anyone wants this. Very cool! Thanks all.
  7. Hello. My first post. I am repairing Space Race and have a few questions. What type of video is outputted? i presume the game uses composit video as there is only one 'video' line mentioned. I have repaired some corrosion etc. I am replacing electrolytic capacitors as many of them read low. I have repaires the 14MHz clock. There was an open circuit track. I am having problems with the reset circuit. The board uses a 555. What does the "Ant" pin do? It has a symbol of an antenna on the circuit. The pin leads to a base of a transistor. What does this thing do? That will do for now. Thanks in advance!
