  1. Hey, it’s time to pack up and store the summer toys and prepare our hobby of choice to hibernate until spring. For me, my project will be to create my own cross dev build environment and utilities. First for the A8 (my favorite system) but I’m considering going multi platform later on. First it will be a simple python script that prepare the sources files to be assembled and linked to be called from VS Code, with MADS as the assembler and then passed on to Altirra for testing. Once I get a Fujinet I’ll add the option of sending and running the file on my 130xe and 800xl. that’s the groundwork of the whole system. Later on I’ll add a built in code editor (or integrate VS Code) a graphic/sprite editor and a sound creator. Once I get the A8 setup working I’ll start adding other classic architecture, C64/128, Ti99, TRS-80 CocoI,II,III , Apple, MSX, Spectrum, as long as there’s a working cross assembler and emulator package I’ll keep trying to include it. Later on I may also work on 16bit systems, god willing. i know many other IDE exist, and I do love them especially WUSDN and CBM Studio and I’ve no pretension to cast shadow or disparate those project. I only do this because I want to make my own. So I see long evenings of python coding in my future. This post will be similar to my floppy archival project of 2020-21. I’ll be using this thread as a journal and to announce progress.
  2. This reads like an actual Smurf episode... Smurf, Smurf this, Smurf that...
  3. It depends on where you live. Nobody here cares unless you're distributing. Heck, there are daily copy party at the National Library in Montreal if you go to the media floor. You see people with piles of CD and Bluray/DVD with laptops ripping away, and there are photocopy machine on each floor...
  4. I always forget about that site... Thanks.
  5. As long as we're expressing wish lists, here's mine: Improved VBXE like or another solution offering HDMI with more sprites & scrolling (HW based or fast enough to do it in software). Support for bitmap and more colors via new graphics mode. 2 to 4 megs of ram via DMA enabled bank switching SD/USB to replace the SIO and PBI/ECI. Not much use for old hardware that are bound to fail, like floppy drives, tapes, printers & modem. Internal wifi/ethernet connectivity or Fujinet No need for an overpriced injection mold plastic case and custom mechanical keyboard, just give me the ability to remap a PC usb keyboard and a metal case with I/O cutout, I can even paint it myself.... Those plastic case and mech keyboard are driving the prices of those system way too high. Modern FPGA based processor that use 6502 opcode, like the 65F02, but can run way, way faster (65F02 can go to 100mhz)... Heck, a multi "core" FPGA or an easy way to switch could also use other core and run as a Z80 or other just for the fun of it. Built in Basic and Assembler/Editor/Debugger Can host a "vanilla" hardware config for those wanting 100% original compatibility. In short what I'm describing is a more up to date MISTer or Commander X16 like system that is more affordable than the many present day offering by removing the expensive case and keyboard design and production. Something new and fun that could be used to recapture the fun we had when we got a new computer before they all became "PC" compatible. I was interested in the Commander X16, but the raising price and lack of availability made me pause on the project. The Mega 65 is even worst at near $1k Canadian... Yeah, yeah, I get the whole "this is a hobby market, if you can't afford it move along...", but at one point this gets old and is a detriment to said hobby.
  6. As a fellow Canadian I also prefer to buy electronics via Amazon.ca There’s also the fact that many electronics devices wouldn’t ship to Canada from Amazon.com, albeit it’s less common these days since in many case Amazon just redirect your order if the product is also available in the .CA .
  7. The only thing I was affraid for AtariAge was that it'd be victim of what happened to NintendoAge when they got bought out, which don't seems to be the case here. AtariAge isn't really about collecting and more about a bunch of nerds and geeks hanging around and talking tech, probably because there's an heavy computer community vs console community here compared to a strickly console hgaming site that NintendoAge was. But, as someone else previously asked, does Atari SA has any plans or projects geared toward the Atari computers line?
  8. Oooohhh. Thanks! I forgot about Lotharek even though I’ve bought many things from them before.
  9. The only thing that bug me with the US 65XE I had was the lack of PBI that the european model had. Never understood this.
  10. Hi! I was wondering if somebody is planing to do a new batch of Fujinet. It seems to be out of stock everywhere. I know somebody is selling a combo atari/adam version, but I want an atari only model with case.
  11. The only thing I wish is that this project doesn’t follow the Commander X16 model of becoming an overpriced and limited release that only a few “elite” can enjoy. If they’re serious in producing this in a way, to paraphrase Jack Tramiel, “computer for the masses, not the classes” then I’ll be very seriously interested in buying one. But if it’s another “Well we planned to sell this at $300 but finally it’ll $500 for a motherboard only plus $150 for a matching keyboard… Oh, and we only produced about a hundred and half of them are for my friend list… The masses can go on an inexistant waiting list or play with the emulator… then I’m out.
  12. I'm a bit sad... My second 1050 floppy drive came in today but It's DOA. It was sold as tested working with psu and manual, but while the drive turns on, the motor doesn't spin. There was supposed, also, to come with the manual but it isn't in the box. So I've filed for a return/refund with ebay. oh well... This isn't my first experience like this.
  13. Hi, I'm interested in getting one for a 65XE, going for a 16:9 or 16:10 config as it's easier to source such display. Are they still available and how do we order one and at what price?
