  1. The third one came with the original release of millipede. Still have mine complete.
  2. I have a PAL Heavy Sixer with CX10 joysticks and the original gatefold Combat cartridge. I was wondering how rare they are in the UK. I have read on many occasions here on Atariage that they were not sold here in the UK, so is mine an exception to the rule or are they just wrong posts? And sorry NO it is NOT for sale. Becuase I Love it too much. Any info would be most appreciated.
  3. I use a Sears video arcade NTSC which has been composite modded. And I use my PAL 2600 power adapter with it. I have no problems playing my NTSC cartridges here in the UK and the colours are much better. It also allows me to play games that were never released here. I have a Harmony Cartridge with both PAL and NTSC folders which I can swap between machines. Atari 2600 has never been better. I play them on a LG plasma TV with no problems.
  4. When I was fifteen, I saved and saved and saved for this knowing it was about to be released. I got 30p a day dinnermoney which 20p was thrifted away. £1 a week pocket money and littke bits and bobs extra for jobs around the house. It took me a good 3 months to save enough and I went to Woolworths in Sutton Coldfield early on a Saturday morning to buy this complete with bank bags of coins and some notes. So I finally got my pac man, I must admit at 15 I played this to death day after day after day, I was banned from using the main colour tv so I had to play on an old black and white telly that kept going out of tune. But still I mastered it and kept it going endlessly on the mapped safe route that was shown in a national newspaper (dont ask me to show it to you its been lost in my memory for over 30 years now) for one time for about 8 hours. I loved that game, the wonderful yellow box and the pictures in the instructions. Loved it still love it even though I can only go for about 10 minutes now before the colours do my head in, how I did back then I will never know. Playit occasionally now on my harmony cart along with all the other versions of it. Did the same with ET, Galaxian and Star Raiders. Love them too. Still got my originals.
  5. Perhaps it was an australia release on PAL only?
  6. Hi, a question for you knowledgable people. Was Slot Machine NTSC only or was it available in PAL too? I dont ever remember seeing this for sale or even in the flyers here in the UK. It just seems bizarre that after all these years of wanting this game I was finally able to purchase a working PAL copy. So why was this never advertised here? And how rare is a PAL copy? Thanks in advance, N.
  7. Perhaps it is a box that plays Atari. maybe you put a sd card in it with bins on it and play games. Maybe multi platform that can play 2600 7800 8bit Lynx ST Jaguar, and the like. Whatever it is lets hope its got some decent controllers. Im just dreaming I know....... But for those in the know stop being cryptic and TELL US. Ooooh the pain.....
  8. I have done the same mod on my all black 4 switch. But I left the red thingy in tact. I found that whilst the colours are super vivid they tend to shadow a little bit. But hey I'm happy with it. From what I understand the red thingy shadows the graphics a little making better viewing on a cathode ray tube. So if you're using a lcd or plasma then remove it. If using a cathode ray then leave it in. Best of luck to ya.
  9. I can't believe no one has mentioned Space War. I was so excited to get this cart. Great picture on the box, a nice looking cart. So plug it in and what? Where are the aliens to shoot at? What All there is to do is dock with a moving block? I was so disappointed with this. I have only played it a handful of times in the nearly 40 years Ive had it. Still got it neatly boxed up. But hate this oh God yes!
  10. I honestly cannot fault my atarimax cart. I have renewed fun on my xegs with it. Highly recommended.
  11. Space Invaders was the first game opened as a Christmas present by myself, then my brothers were gjven the main present which was the console which had Combat as the packin game. Fantastic times still have them both along with lots of games since.
  12. With regard to your TV, I think that it might be tuning out the sound. I have had this problem with my TVs. I am guessing there is actually nothing wrong with your Atari. It is just that TVs have moved on from rf and get a much more stable source from component or HDMI.
  13. Hi Tec, I live in the UK too. My solution was to mod my 2600 all black myself. I can now play all the 2600 games on my plasma TV. I have mine connected through the phono cables video audio left audio right through a scart adapter. Looking at your connections, you could do so directly through the phono ports after modding your unit. I have had little luck trying to connect and tune through the arial on a modern TV. Ebay is good for buying a modding kit. I think mine was about £17. And it is so easy to do. I have had little experience soldering but managed to do this successfully myself. I have since purchased a modded 7800 on ebay and also a modded NTSC 2600 which both work flawlessly on more modern TVs. Just a tip, but if you love playing 2600 games, get yourself a Harmony cartridge for guaranteed endless fun, you can find most PAL conversions for games right here on Atariage. I have never looked back and have an Atari under my TV right now that I play most days. Best of luck to you friend and happy gaming.
  14. I know this sounds daft but double check your av connections. My modded 7800 used to play me up continuously, until I bought a gold plated phono video connector. It used to picture jump when loud audio sounds played and the screen would roll and artifacts would appear. Now it plays perfect. Give a better quality cable a try. Very best of luck to you, I know how annoying this problem can be.
  15. I can understand how emulation cuts down on the clutter, but I wouldnt be without the 2600 under my telly. Its a great conversation piece and so many people want to have a go. Its great witn a harmony cartridge watching people wow at the sheer game choice. I have my 4 switch all black modded and connected to a 42" plasma. Plays brilliantly but burns my screen. I would not buy another flashback console unless they were seriously improved.
