  1. Just a quick update....I finally located another PS/2 mouse that is newer and that one works just fine. So I chucked that old Compaq mouse. Thanks!
  2. Oh?! I didn't know that those would work. I'll keep that in mind as I troubleshoot. Thanks!
  3. I'll first check to see if we have any PS/2 mice at work this coming week before I'll take you up on your kind offer. Thanks
  4. 1. It is a standard PS/2, no USB adapter 2. I just confirmed with Raiden that both Jag ports work 3. I have not, might have a little trouble finding a computer with a PS/2 port but I'll have to hunt around. 4. It's an older Compaq 2 button mouse with ball (not optical) I'll either confirm 3. or maybe I'll find another PS/2 mouse to try. Thanks for the reply.
  5. So I've had a PS/2 adapter that I purchased from AtariAge for quite a while. I finally have a chance to give Defender of the Crown a go with the new interface. However, I can't seem to get it to work. Plugged it into port 2 and selected option 2 when DotC starts up. After that point, nothing works with the mouse. Is there something I'm missing? The pins all look good when I unplug the adapter to inspect for bent pins. Please advise. Thanks!
  6. Update! Figure out what the problem was. I had ordered 620 ohm resistors off of ebay since I didn't have that flavor in my resistor stash. Well, to make a long story short, the dude that sent me the resistors weren't 620 ohms. They were actually 620K ohms! I didn't realize this at the time of installing, but after banging my head on the wall trying to figure out why this semi-simple process is eluding me, I looked a little closer at the hand written label that came with the resistors....620K. Checked with ohm meter...confirmed. The closest thing I had on hand was 220 ohm. Give that a go and BAM, all is working. So pleased that project is finally done. Now to print out a sweet label to slap on!
  7. I too am late to the game but I got one mostly working. I've tested it on a 7800 using a 7800 Asteroids. Both sets of buttons are working just fine in 7800 mode. However, when I slap in 2600 games, none of the buttons are working. This one really has me puzzled since that part of the process seems to be quite simple. Just tie all the blue cables from the 4 buttons together and hook it up to the wire that goes to Pin 6. I've confirmed via multi meter that those tied together wires are indeed going to Pin 6. Any advise would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
  8. Just wanted to followup that I got my Y axis working again. I got a repair kit from Best and first replaced the opto's. No change. I then changed all the IC's that came with the kit. BAM All is working again. Thanks!
  9. Seems like all those buttons are working. I did pull the connection cables from the crunchy one to the other one with no change. One thing I did observe is that 2 of the 3 pegs that the board sits in were broke. So the board isn't really in there very firm. (How the heck would those break?!) It does have some play compared to crunchy. The plastic pegs are there and hopefully super glue will hold once I figure out why down does not work. So I see this on Best Maybe it's just the Optocoupler that has gone bad?
  10. Sweet! This looks like exactly what I would need for the crunchy one https://console5.com/store/atari-5200-cx-53-trak-ball-service-kit-bearings-buttons-and-more.html Now to figure out why there's no downward movement on the Y roller. Thanks PS: I had another thought about these balls. They sure look very similar to a pool cue ball. Does anyone know if these track balls are about the same size as a pool ball? Would be pretty cool if I could put a 1 ball in the player one port controller and the 2 ball in for player two.
  11. I have a couple trackball controllers that have different issues I would like to correct. Controller #1 This one is in nice shape and ball rolls very nicely. However, it does not sense the ball going down. Up, Left, Right all work except down. I took it apart, took off the metal rod with bearings and blew out the area where the little black flywheel goes into with no change. Since it does sense one direction but not another on the same sensor, could there be a component that went out? Controller #2 This one came to me quite dirty and controlwise does appear to work. However, all the bearings are REALLY bad and crunchy. I suspect if I could just replace those bearings, this would work just fine. Anyone know where one can get some bearings that would fit this? Thanks for the advice!
