#4232887 TIPI Usage and Support

Posted by Sinphaltimus on Tue Mar 5, 2019 6:36 PM

Ca't help wonder if Tursi's video code can be altered to stream movies off the TiPi.

#4193819 From Extended Basic Program to FlashRom99 in 12 minutes and 20 seconds

Posted by Sinphaltimus on Wed Jan 9, 2019 5:06 AM

Awe thanks guys. so sorry for being afk for so long. I've had some major life changes to transition to. But I'm slowly working my way back to my hobbies. I would love to update the video tutorial but I feel like a noob all over again. LOL. It's going to be some time before I'm back posting regularly and working on things. right now I'm trying to square up some unfinished business with projects I've put on hold for far too long.

#4098926 On annual TI gatherings....

Posted by Sinphaltimus on Sat Aug 25, 2018 10:43 AM

I did festwest once and the TI chicago User Group annual meeting once. It'll be difficult to do either of those again for a long while. would be great to have a North eastern US meeting. Not sure how many TI99ers are out this way.

#4094548 New 32k XB Game:ZOMBi (work in progress)

Posted by Sinphaltimus on Sun Aug 19, 2018 10:25 AM

My biggest challenge with Zombi is making the later levels more difficult by adding more Zombies. This results is a severe performance hit with all the coinc calls that need to be made on moving targets (bot for the player and for the Zombies). I think my largest zombie count on screen is 4 at any given time before the game slows down way too much to be playable. 4 is a bit slower but 3 seems optimal so I'm thinking of Zombi spawn generators where a new zombi will appear after one is killed. i can simply give each generator a finite number of zombies is can spawn based on how far along the player is n the game hence at the higher levels, they will spawn more and more zombies making as opposed to the beginning levels where they may only spawn a few before they stop. The objective is to increase the difficulty as the player progresses. I'll probably also increase the speed of the zombies as the player progresses to add to that level of difficulty later on.

This will require a significant rewrite of some portions of my code but I think I'm getting close to picking this project up again.

#4091455 A Newbies Journey with the TIPI

Posted by Sinphaltimus on Tue Aug 14, 2018 2:19 PM

That's how I do it. Tipi folder shared with windows so I can develop in classic99 and immediately ru/test on real iron via tipi. I start my new Job tomorrow. Once I get acclimated to the new work schedule I'll be returning to my Zombi game with much needed changes AND working on a new game for the tipi that's a bit more advanced than a number guessing game like last time. :)

#4082920 Cellphone Audio Amplifier for the Cassette Port

The amp arrived yesterday and I was disappointed the headphone jack is 2.5mm so I need to get an adaptor. More once the adaptor arrives.

#4078123 Cellphone Audio Amplifier for the Cassette Port

I ordered one of these due to your post. I will have it in a few weeks. I ordered a digital recorder real cheap a while back to see if it would be a viable tape deck replacement but the levels were way too low. i even picked up stereo to mono jumper cables but that didn't help things so I am hopeful this might do the trick.

Also, because of a non-TI computer need, I just received one of these devices I needed to record music on a laptop without any audio input or microphone jack -

Once my music recording needs are met I will need to find a use for this and thought it might be the perfect device to plug in the tape recorder cables in/out to for direct PC to tape to PC loading and saving. I haven't plugged it in yet but I bet the microphone switch changes it to mono recording - I already know the line in selection would be stereo.

So I will circle back with some feedback (no pun intended) on this new device and that mini amplifier. Both reports will probably be in a couple of weeks if only because the music recording will be done in a couple of weeks and that amplifier device should arrive around the same time.

To satisfy curiosity, one of my boys is entering the Band-Up competition and wants the best possible recordings of his drum playing. As low budget as we are, this new device will be plugged into my 4 channel mixer taking 4 microphone inputs that are mic'ed up to his drums. I tried a cheap ass USB audio device I had but the mic input is mono only. Such is the way of most PC mic inputs unless you go high end on some expensive add-ons. But this new device fills the immediate need nicely I suppose.

I'm glad that things are starting to come together for you again @Sinphaltimus, RL can be a real downer at times--but never forget that you have friends here too (and a nice support network of random craziness).  :)  :)  :)

I couldn't forget you guys if I had amnesia. LOL :)

Figured I'd drop a quick line in the OT.

i dropped out of the hobby scenes for the most part when i lost my full time position and benefits. My brain does that. I can't enjoy hobbies when real life circumstances take a sevre turn to the front seat so yeah, I lurked here and there but for the most part had to put things on hold.

With that said.

I start my new job mid-august so it's going to be a few weeks before my mind settles back into hobby mode. I put it on hold while i worked diligently to find new employment opportunities.

Sorry for the sudden drop off. Hope to be back in the swing of things soon. I have a long list of TI projects including at least one new game and one new TiPi related game. And Zombi has been bugging me for a makeover and change in scope sooooooo. yeah.

#4057770 Tunnels Of Doom

Posted by Sinphaltimus on Tue Jun 26, 2018 5:08 PM

Tunnels of Doom is my favorite game is all time on the TI. It and PARSEC are the two games I vividly recall playing when I was younger. I can't think of anything to tell you to try on a stock ToD but I will challenge you to give Shift 838's custom ToD adventures a try.

#4027907 Currently in Omega's Den: 30 year old dream *FINALLY REALIZED* (Updated)

Posted by Sinphaltimus on Tue May 15, 2018 6:19 AM

The plan is to make a video once it's up and running, dedicated to my Dad who recently passed, because we both used to run SuperCarts back in the day and had the same gripe about what happened every time you exited a program.

The operating environment of 4A/DOS is the most important aspect in this application.  It's limited batch processing capabilities are up to the task for what I need out of it.  Where it shines is it's compatibility with both the F18A (80 columns) and TIPI (directory structure),  Having it auto-magically start after every reset will be just too cool.

I'm very interested in this endeavor of yours. I have only one issue tho'. videos showing off the working system without an in depth explanation/tutorial on how to get from point A (not having this kind of setup) to point B, step by step. It's selfish I know. But I'm kind of limited right now on spare time and I choose to play the game of the month competition when I am too burned out to do anything else. So a hand held guide would be a god send. If things go as well as i hope hey will go, I'll have an update on my current situation and the outcome within a few weeks. No worries, health is OK. Just being challenged with life circumstances a ATM.

#4027329 High Score Competition (April: Blasto)

Posted by Sinphaltimus on Mon May 14, 2018 6:42 AM

OK. Here's my latest - Broke free twice, don't know what level i made it to after that - screen changed to high score screen too quickly.

With it taking a little over an hour to get here - it's going to be a little bit before my next play session.
