  1. Pretty sure the contacts are probably the issue unless the controller cords are mangled. There's two ways to fix them pretty easily, if the cord is the issue just swap it out, if it's the contacts, they are easy to clean using a thin nail filer cut into small strips. Just make them like 1 inch by 1/8 inch wide and stick it under the contact rectangular dome. And move up and down a few times. I've fixed dozens of heavy sixer controllers like this.
  2. Also most of the tantalums show 0V when I just checked just now. Maybe it would be easier to fix the other drive? It has the "File not found" error, and it's 100% not a drive that is out of alignment/dirty read/write head, or any issue like that since I took the board out and put it in a different drive mech. Is there a known smaller chip that causes this error that I can de-solder from the board with power problems?
  3. 20v is on the left 12v regulator. Also the voltage at c15 I'd 2.50 volts. I have a other bad drive that doesn't work that i was never able to fix but seems to have an output of around 9 to 10 volts on the 12 v regulator and reads 12v at c15. Should I maybe switch the voltage regulator over from the other drive? Thanks for your help by the way
  4. At one regulator there is like 20, and the other has about 6V. Is that a good start, not really sure where to look, someone suggested that maybe tantalums maybe shorted other than c15?
  5. Hi everyone. Got this drive yesterday in a lot and it does nothing on start up regarding the motors. The red light comes on and shuts off like it's supposed. But trying to load a disk doesn't get anything moving and just yields a file not found error. I tried replacing the motor controller chip closest to the cabling inside. And also both 6522 chips with working ones. No change what so ever. Tried replacing c15 and no change. What should I try next?
  6. I ended up just buying a a1000 jyeboard with 1 missing key. Anyone know who sells repro ones or extras?
  7. Hello everyone, helping a friend to sell this. Located in Southeast Michigan so you could pick up if you prefer, but shipping is also available and will be no problem at all. For sale is a SX-64. The main computer SEEMS to be working. I used a dead test cartridge on it and heard the 3 SID voices. Screen is good. The compartment door that houses the volume knobs etc does have a broken clip on it. The main problem is the keyboard. Most keys did not register. Keyboard itself is in great shape, bezel on it looks very clean, no broken clips, we very carefully took it apart to see if there was a lose cable or something and mainly clear out any dust. I suspect a myler keyboard is being used here and is the problem. Keyboard cable is in tact, has slight chipping on one corner. I could not test the disk drive but it does the usual when powering on the computer, no continuous running light/drive noises. First 500$ (absolute lowest) + plus shipping takes it. Let me know me what you would like to buy, bezel, keyboard cable, separate keys, etc. The only thing he wants to really sell as a whole would be the SX computer module itself since it seems to work fine.
  8. Did a trade with Keir for over 100$ worth of stuff, everything arrived as fast as possible and in fantastic condition, don't hesitate to trade with him:).
  9. Hi everyone, looking to trade the games below for any console/computer stuff up until about N64. Let me know what you have to trade and I'm sure we can work something out, these are mostly double and in some cases I have a bunch of the same thing. For some of the Ti-99 stuff like Adventure, if you need me to try to make a corresponding tape/disk, I can try to make them as I have a copy machine for cassette tapes.
  10. Hello all. Just looking for the keyboard. With or without cable is fine. I'm willing to pay the going rate or potentially trade as well.
  11. Actually, from looking up the Epson SD-600 number, which I somehow didn't see the first time, I assumed the bottom of the drive would state the model, this looks to be a 1.2MB drive? I think it's supposed to not be a good idea to use those with a PEB no?
