  1. The Brother HL5370DW laserprinter has Epson compatibility (FX850) and it's about the last one with a genuine parallel port connection. So it should work with one of the parallel interfaces for the Atari. It's also wireless and USB. I got it lightly used about 2-3 years ago. Have not hooked it up to my Atari's yet though.
  2. A bit OT, but I have a very yellowed 520ST+ somewhere in storage. It's keyboard feels different compared to the 520STM I used to have. Seems similar in feel to the MEGA ST keyboard with the Cherry MX Black switches. When I have some spare time (.....) I'll get it and have a look inside.
  3. Off topic: "....The first recorded lawsuit over the soaring memory chip prices has been brought against Micron Technology Corp, Boise, Idaho by Atari Corp, Sunnyvale, California. Atari’s suit charges Micron with unlawful exploitation of the dynamic random access memory circuits shortage created by federal restrictions on importation of the circuits from Japan and seeks damages for breach of contract, bad faith and violation of federal antitrust laws. It’s a crazy situation, said president Sam Tramiel – First Micron pleads with the government to impose sanctions on the Japanese for selling low-cost DRAM chips, then they raise their own prices to several times their cost of manufacturing the circuits. Atari contends that Micron agreed to sell it 256Ks at $3.75 each, nearly triple Micron’s cost of production and then repudiated the contract in the hope of commanding even higher prices......" There you go, Micron Technology. Expensive shitty products from a shitty company.
  4. You can also search for and look at experiences with the Atari 8 bit core for the generic FPGA computer MIST and the dedicated Atari FPGA computer EclaireXL. All three are related and originate from the same author.
  5. I don't know the particular drive, but it seems something is wrong with the track zero sensor.
  6. A nice XE to go with my XF551 and XC11 was still missing. I picked up this boxed PAL 65XE today:
  7. The new one is a bit of a mixed bag. Specs say more ripple & noise and lower no load power consumption/higher energy efficiency level.
  8. I saw that too. Looks like a bidding war? I bought one on Ebay for less than half of that BIN yesterday. Mind you, just the untested computer and the tatty original box. But that box was important, it's on its way to Europe.
  9. Compared to the regular ST, the Mega ST adds the RTC, the blitter, a Megabus expansion slot (FPU, Graphics card), and an external keyboard with Cherry MX black switches. The 520ST(/+/M) memory can be expanded. It requires soldering (piggyback or expanded memory board).
  10. Some tips: You can still buy new Epson or Oki (9 or 24 pins) dot matrix printers. These usually have USB and Centronics parallel connectors and are "Epson" (ESC/P or ESC/P2) compatible. I bought an OKI ML3390eco (European model) refurb (factory repaired/like new) in 2019, for 83 euros. You can buy a telex roll holder for this Oki, great if you want to print old style banners. Ribbons are easy to get. I also have a second hand Brother HL-5370DW laser printer, it has Wifi, USB and parallel interfaces. It is both laserjet PCL and Epson compatible. Great value. Look for the XETEC Graphix AT parallel interface on Ebay. It can print program listings with ATASCII characters on Epson compatibles with a dip switch setting. No program needed.
  11. The production is in China and shipping is from there.
  12. Infinity is mentioned in this single post topic https://atariage.com/forums/topic/195232-infinity-by-matrix-software/ Which links to this interesting article: https://www.chicagotribune.com/news/ct-xpm-1985-03-08-8501130835-story.html
  13. The exposed key switches look like these with the stem broken off: https://deskthority.net/wiki/MEI_Sabrecoil
  14. If you have a go at repairing it, first check that your power supply is ok. Should be 5v dc under load. If you have the ingot type power supply, throw it away and get a new one https://atariage.com/forums/topic/293810-ingot-power-supply-garbage-can/
  15. Update: got the PDF. ? Star Micronics has lots of PDF User manuals for their legacy printers but not for the little STX-80. I have been looking for a User Manual for this little thermal printer for 10 years, so I thought I'll try my luck here. A PDF scan will do too. Any language. Anybody?
