  1. The levels easy, normal, and hard, I know that affects the amount of steps before the objective is destroyed but what else does it effect? I remember one of the Doom Games had an enemy that had a special ability to actually increase the player's Hit Points! I'd heal up the party and purposely drag on the fight to get extra hit points! Can't remember the name of that Doom game though.
  2. The red character in that BMP looks familiar! I think green looks better though! 😉 Congratulations on the win!
  3. Good day! The General Store is on the top floor, 4th floor, and 8th floor. In my opinion it's a good idea to give your team good close range weapons for the front row and good ranged weapons for the back row when you first start. Don't buy too many arrows at first and don't forget to buy rations. After getting a few hundred gold pieces or at least before going to the second floor, go back to the General Store and load up on Armor, better weapons, and more arrows. As stated above, try to single target enemies when you can. It's best to kill an enemy than have four or five weakened ones. Your timer is based on steps taken (in the hallway, not battle), hidden doors checked (I think only in the hallway, not in rooms), and maybe? doors listened to. If anyone knows for sure please let me know. So try to make your path as straight forward as possible, try not to back track the best you can. The sooner you can find the map, the better you can be at planning out the best route to hit the rooms you need. You only need to find the map in order to go to the next level, but I try to clear as many rooms as I can to find new equipment, new magic, and to gain experience. Walking so many steps uses a ration, these heal you, but don't just walk around in circles using that as a way to heal if it would be faster (step wise) to go to a General Store and buy Healing. I find it best to BUST into doors, not just walk in. That way your whole party is in the room, nobody has to move out of the way to let your other members in. If you go into the room expecting to flee, walking in would still be your best bet. I don't use the fountain or living statue, so maybe others can give advice on that. How is your party configured? Four players? How many of each class? Always keep the best armored characters in the front so the monsters will miss their attacks more often.
  4. Yeah, I know 8" floppy drive is a step in the wrong direction from a 5.25 or 3.5. I just always find it fascinating what talented enthusiasts can do! Nerd flex for the win!
  5. Thanks all for the good replies! @arcadeshopper, I don't currently have a disc system or even a PEB. I grew up with the official TI tape recorder. Good times, but I've always wanted to upgrade to disc, for obvious reasons. So, most HD 3.5 drives work pretty reliably with the TI, but can't use the 1.44mb and may not be compatible with drives other that the one that wrote the disk. Does this mean the best option is to find a DD drive, especially since there is no benefit from a HD (other than the fact I have a HD in my hand, but would have to find and buy a DD if I go that route)? As I just mentioned, I would also have to look for a PEB and disk controller. I just looked on ebay and found none. I know there are several different controllers out there. Are there some I should avoid? I'm assuming DSDD is the best controller that is "findable and affordable" for the system, though I have heard of modifications that can be done to the TI disk controller that will change it from 40 track to 80 track. Does that modification turn the controller from SD to DD, or is it unrelated? Some of you may be thinking that since I don't have a disk controller or even a PEB that I should look towards other options such as TIPI or SD card reader or other such method, but I've always wanted a disk system and still hope to one day have one. Extra credit, not quite on topic question: It's my understanding that there are several disk controllers out there with different capabilities. Obviously 5.25" and 3.5" drives can be used with these, and I've even heard some can handle hard drives, but what else can be connected to a TI with the correct controller? Anyone ever hook up an 8" floppy drive, CD-ROM drive, CD-RW drive, Zip drive, Tape drive or other storage device? Just curious.
  6. Good morning all! I was dismantling old computer systems for disposal and came across some 3.5 floppy drives. I don't currently have a PEB with a 3.5 drive in it, but have always wanted one. I removed 3 different drives and want to know which would be best to keep. Two are Sony MPF920 (one is T/B53 and the other is T/B63, I doubt there is a difference between the two, but I'm throwing it out there just in case) and the other is a TEAC FD-235HG. I looked up in this forum that the Sony is TI compatible, but found no information on the TEAC. I've included a picture but can provide more information if needed. Thanks in advance!
  7. @HOME AUTOMATION I've never heard of this speech synthesizer modification before, maybe you should make a new thread to share it with others! I'd be interested to know how far the speech synthesizer can be pushed, upgraded, or even if it can be redesigned into a speech synthesizer 2.0, but that's getting pretty far off topic.
  8. Yay Journey! ? I'd love to hear "Only Solutions" from the Tron soundtrack coming out of a TI! Thanks for the pictures! What made you want to modify the speech synthesizer like that? Is it a useful modification?
  9. @Tursi I just watched Bad Apple on your site. It was pretty cool! I can't wait until the sound is improved!
  10. Do you have a link to the speech synthesizer resistor modification? I don't think I've seen it before.
  11. It's been a while since I've seen the clip so my memory may be a bit fuzzy, but I remember it being very impressive! Not only the video, but also the audio. I'm very surprised that the TI sound chips can put out such great sounds! It got me thinking, is the TI capable of playing actual music? Like some kind of MP3 equivalent? If the TI can not play music (let's say a song by Journey), what would be the road block? The sound chip? The size of the music file? I know the TI wouldn't be a very efficient MP3 player, but has anyone ever tried?
  12. Good day! I remember there being a video on YouTube of a short clip of Spaceballs being played using a Ti-99/4a, but when I went to look for it today I couldn't find it. Is anyone familiar with this clip? Was it in fact being played on actually TI hardware? Is the video available to watch somewhere else besides YouTube? Thanks for any information!
