  1. I found this strange Golden Axe bootleg today. It claims to be a Windows version requiring Windows 98SE or later and DirectX 8. https://www.ebay.ca/itm/GOLDEN-AXE-Windows-98-XP-PC-Game-Sega-Japan-917A25/312259673033?hash=item48b4207bc9:g:~EUAAOSwqcJbvdXX

I once downloaded a Dos version of Golden Axe 3 that seemed to contain a Genesis emulator built into the EXE. It was weird.

Wikipedia has Windows listed as one of the ports. SEGA put out a lot of PC games at that time, it's not so weird. Import yes, bootleg no.

Don't think this is a bootleg as it's identical to the official Japanese release of the game on Windows at the time.

  2. Technically the Dreamcast will be 20 on November 27th because it was first released in Japan. I prefer to go by the first launch date for a console's birthday rather than the launch date in my own region. I was born three weeks before the Dreamcast's discontinuation was announced. While I grew up with retro consoles such as the 2600, NES, Genesis, Playstation, and N64, the Dreamcast was one that I completely missed. I remember seeing Dreamcast peripherals at my local video game store on January 9th, 2009, but I was there buying a brand new GameCube so I didn't have much time to look around. I don't remember seeing much Dreamcast stuff again for several years. Every once in awhile I'd hear about the Dreamcast, but I knew almost nothing aside from it being Sega's last console and the platform the Sonic Adventure games were originally released for. In early 2016, I was with some friends at another friend's house with all the latest consoles. I asked out of curiosity if they had anything older and to my surprise they pulled out not one, but two Dreamcasts! I had never seen one before, at least not that I can remember. After that weekend, I became obsessed with Sega. I had always been a huge Sega fan as a child (I bought the GameCube to play Sonic Heroes) and I already had a Genesis and a Game Gear so it was time for me to start collecting! I went to my flea market that June and found both a Dreamcast and Master System for $75 each. I was torn between the two. I have an easier time trying out random 8-Bit and 16-Bit games than I do with anything from the fifth or sixth generation of gaming and I knew that I'd have no problem doing that with the SMS, but the Dreamcast would be a console I'd probably buy only a few games for and then neglect. Nevertheless, I went for the Dreamcast and became OBSESSED with it. I even created a YouTube channel, Dreamcast Gamer, that was intended to be dedicated to the console, but that didn't last long (though I kept the name) and I started making videos for every platform, even non-gaming videos like "HATSUNE MIKU VS WINDOWS XP" or "The Death of the CRT Television". I lost interest around Christmas time that year when I started focusing on other consoles, especially the 2600. I still play my Dreamcast every now and then, but no matter how awesome it is, it never kept me hooked as long as other consoles have. Even my GameCube is rarely played anymore despite Sonic Heroes being my favorite game of all time because it got me into console gaming (before I played that, all I knew was Windows XP gaming). I do play my PS2 quite a bit, but that's because I have several Neo Geo compilations on there. I guess the 8-Bit and 16-Bit era has simply become my priority these days. I love the fifth, sixth, and Win9x/XP era of gaming too and recently I have been gaming on an HP Pavilion a1610n Media Center PC running Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005 that I upgraded so now I can max graphics settings in Doom 3, Quake 4, and well, run Crysis at medium settings XD. However, while I certainly love this computer, I can't see myself collecting XP games. I'll buy the odd one and enjoy an amazing 3D gaming experience with surround sound, but I'd still want my 8-Bit and 16-Bit games and consoles more. I guess that's why I lost interest in the Dreamcast. It's a great console, but it's just not my passion like the Master System. Still, the Dreamcast is still special to me and I hope to start it up again soon and finally complete the Sonic Adventure story mode that I began over a year ago. Happy Birthday North American Dreamcast!
  3. I've been away from AA for too long. I started collecting old computers for awhile such as a Compaq Presario 425 from 1993 running Windows 3.1 and an HP Pavilion a1610n Media Center PC running Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005 so I've been neglecting my consoles for awhile. Well now I'm back and collecting Master System games, something I've wanted to do for two years, but never had the opportunity.

It's so easy to get hooked on collecting old computers. I go to the thrift store way too often and come back with old Macintoshes and a few Windows XP laptops. Been meaning to try and attempt to weed through my stuff again. Anyway, welcome back... the Master System is awesome. I was just looking at the one I own and all of the cartridges I have for it. Been meaning to get an IKEA cabinet to better display the systems I own. :)

  4. I just found a 14 inch Toshiba CRT TV from April 2014! I had no idea CRTs were still being manufactured at that time.

The seller made a typo and the picture was so grainy that I thought the sticker said 2014. When I got there, I discovered that it is exactly 10 years older, but I bought it anyway. It has a built-in DVD player and the sound and image quality are superb! I'm going to connect it to my Bose speakers for even better sound.

Sounds like a good plan to do Dallas. 8^)

  5. I've been reorganizing my room to find more space for retro consoles and CRT TVs. I'm going out later to try to find a new TV, probably 13-15 inches.

Sony 14" PVM if you can find one local and can spare the depth. Failing that, Phillips makes some nice 14" screens.

Thanks for the advice. I didn't find one I liked so I'll be looking again tomorrow.

  6. I am currently viewing this forum from a 2007 Mac Mini running Windows XP Professional. I've also visited this site from Windows ME, a Pocket PC, a Nintendo DSi, and even Windows For Workgroups 3.11. Apparently I can't browse the web like a normal person.

  7. Do any of you still use any Windows CE devices such as Pocket PCs?

Axim X5 and X51v they were blazing fast for the day and I still like to use them. A Jornada and of course a Dreamcast. Also the infotainment/NAV head-unit I recently installed in my car.

Funny, I just dug out my old Dell Axim that has been sitting in a box for years. My daughter used to draw on it (back before tablets/etc) and she wanted to see if it looked like she remembered. I haven't tried charging it and powering it on, maybe I should.

pacman000, I'm not sure if it's actually built-in or if it's including on the disc of certain games.

I don't see an Intellivision in there... you'll probably get bored. Get an Intellivision. :)

I remember when Big Lots! had all kinds of little speakers, which I now need and guess what? Everything's now blutooth! ARRGGG! I bought some blutooth ones, and I'm gonna try to adapt them by adding a transmitter to my little DVD Player, but if it doesn't work, I'm gonna trade them in for a Sylvania boombox ;)

They do serve a purpose, but compared to what used to be available, they're trash. I used both of those a lot when I was growing up so I am nostalgic for them, but I figured since I had no use for them anymore I should smash them in slow motion XD

Destroying things (esp unwanted things) for the sake of Art is cool in my book! We once played a show and gave away a guitar! Except I smashed the guitar onstage first! Which was pretty funny!

  11. I haven't made many videos like this before, but I really enjoy them because of how much fun it is to smash worthless electronic devices. Today I smashed 2 identical CD players together to some Neo Geo music.
  12. Hey guys, here's myself as Terry Bogard smashing CD players to some Neo Geo music!
  13. A new version of my remix of Cammy's Theme from Super Street Fighter II.

  14. I can't access any channel pages on YouTube right now. Is anyone else experiencing the same issue?

^ YouTube and Netflix are the only things I watch on TV outside of movies and shows download from torrents. I gave up cable and network television long ago.

Youtube is always making things worse by changing their layout and nobody likes it. They even decided to be douchebags by removing the "Restore Old Youtube" option.

It's already in the news, only the channel pages are offline due to a bug but the videos still work.
