  1. That looks awesome! Thanks for all your work--- I'm off to Amazon :-)
  2. Update before I click 'checkout' on Amazon!?! Hope it worked well :-)
  3. Looks promising--- in particular the size looks good. I'll let you beta test this one and see how it goes :-)
  4. I was picking at my Flashback controller's disc and it seems pretty firmly attached. Now on a quest for the perfect chess set with pieces with a flared base. Any luck, Denicio? I feel the urge to test my mettle with friends in Sea Battle, but practicing with the disc feels like driving a car with a watermelon.
  5. Sign me up for a 3-d printed mod! The bottom of the stick flared out to fully cover the disc and give the maximum gripping surface area. A quick Google search for oversized chess pieces yielded some cool results, especially the glass ones which look amazing. The rook idea is great since there would be a concave surface to cup the thumb! What's the worst thing that could happen?
  6. Since I bought an Intellivision Flashback unit just for the controllers maybe I would be willing now to brave taking them apart and trying out a joystick mod. The one that looks like a 2600 stick might work. I had a very specific method of holding a joystick in those days (thumb on top for precise control) which is why I got the giant chess pawn thingie. Hm... maybe I can find an oversized chess set and gorilla glue a pawn to the pads :-)
  7. No, the ones I had really did just look like oversized black chess pawns. They were simple to attach but in the heat of a tense game they could peel off the disc :-). A disc replacement would be better, but as a kid I never would have dreamed of dismantling my controllers!
  8. During my original Intellivision days I bought a couple joysticks for cheap. It's been too long to remember the company, but the stick looked like a giant chess pawn that stuck to the disc. Simple solution and it improved my control comfort and accuracy immensely. Wish I could find those now...
  9. Thanks! Looks like you have a great forum here. Mr_me was incredibly helpful in pointing me in the right direction. I still have one input to tweak (for some reason the '9' key on the pad reads as 'disc up + button 16' or something like that--- I should be able to manually edit the cfg file when I get home and get some time tonight) but otherwise it's working great. Hopefully I can be of some use to folks around here while I lurk :-)
  10. I was unstoppable at Sea Battle--- my PT Boat > your Battleship :-). My friends and I played it so much it literally wore out the cartridge contacts and I had to buy another copy.
  11. Whew. I have it all set up and working prettily in Launchbox/Bigbox. I really can't thank you enough--- it would have taken me forever to muddle through this without all the help. The merging of MESS and MAME with the associated console support seems to be lacking cohesive documentation! ---or at least any I could find anyway. I did read on MAME Testers about some known compatibility issues, but for now I'm just happy to have this functioning!
  12. You're awesome! It works. Now I just need to figure out the command line switches and ROM naming conventions MAME requires so I can run it from Launchbox (my front end of choice). I can finally see the end of this project approaching.
  13. Thanks for the suggestion. I had briefly considered using MAME, but creating a custom controller keymap file looked pretty daunting. If I can't come up with anything better I may have to give it a try :-( It's so frustrating that jzintv and Nostalgia seem thisclose to working for me. I may look for a way to contact the devs and beg, offer money, beer, whatever it takes :-P
  14. Hi all, I've been beating my head against a wall this holiday break trying to get my Intellivision emulation working. So far I can get the games loaded easily enough, but the controller configuration is making me CRAZY. You seem like a knowledgeable lot so I thought I'd give this forum a go. My setup is Windows 10 Pro x64, 16gb RAM, GTX980 video card, Skylake i7 cpu, etc. Plenty of power for an HTPC. I have the Ultimate PC interface with the Intellivision Flashback controllers (I bought the flashback just for the controllers as I have no intention of actually using the unit). I know the interface is set up correctly because it's working fine (controller and all) for the Colecovision emulation, and the Windows game controller control panel sees the Intellivision controller just fine along with all its associated inputs. The games start up just fine in every emulator. My only issue is control setup in the emulators. So far I've tried Nostalgia 4.2 (inputs not recognized when mapping controls), Nostalgia 5.0 (emulator crashes when I double-click on the gamepad configuration button in the gamepad settings), Bliss (input mappings don't work), and jzintv (I have the hackfile set up in what seems to be correct, but the console window output of jzintv only enumerates the first 4 controllers in my system--- the problem is my adapter is enumerated as controller 8 so it just errors out when I have it set to 'joy8' in the hackfile). jzintv seems like the closest I'm getting to a working setup (or Nostaglia 5 if the crash issue can be resolved). If anyone has some ideas or can point me in another direction (MAME? Retroarch? Ugh.) I'm open to any suggestions. Thanks
