#2659232 Millipede 1984 file version?

Posted by _Fandal_ on Sun Dec 16, 2012 8:57 AM

Speaking of this game... there are two more issues:

It is sometimes impossible to hit the earwig or the caterpillar. The bullets go right through these two bugs, but nothing happens sometimes. I'm not sure this is also the case in NTSC ... but I always wondered what happened. I did not have this issue with the 1983 version. Anyone?

Here we go:

I hope that all PAL issues are fixed in this version.

I'm attaching fixed ROM image for those who care too.

#2515666 Easter egg in Joust found!

Posted by _Fandal_ on Sat May 5, 2012 12:25 AM

Hi all!

Here is the way how to trigger easter egg in Joust: power console on and press select, then press 53x (!!!) joystick 1 down and then press 41x joystick 1 left and wait for hidden credits...

I've never been one to sit and figure out easter eggs, so I have to know, how did you figure it out? Is it somewhere in the code? I don't see how anyone would just happen to stumble upon that easter egg by chance, but again, I don't know much about the topic.

I disassembled binary and found the code to trigger it.

#2297045 Warlok

Posted by _Fandal_ on Tue Jun 7, 2011 9:32 AM

Hi all!

Good news to everyone! I finally found some time to crack PRO image of Warlok. Attached ATR version works fine on my real PAL HW and it should work on NTSC too as I fixed DLI timing issue (somebody please, test it on real HW!).

It seems to me that our unknown "Happy Hacker" just used some sector editor to change some text as copy protection was still there. Anyway, I replaced all those "funny" messages by original ones according to tape version.

Many thanks to CyranoJ for PRO image and to TheRealBountyBob for crack request.

Emulator users, switch fast SIO patch off.

#2269323 Space Harrier Atari XLXE - Pre-Final Release

Posted by _Fandal_ on Fri Apr 29, 2011 12:10 PM

This port of Space Harrier is one of the best A8 games of all times! Congratulations!!!

The sound really has gone bad, compared to the early state. The "music" surpresses the digital sound. If you don't know there is some speech, you possibly wouldn't recognize it.

Back in the early state there was the impressive speech, the action, and some "ok"ish music. The presentation was really nice...

A funeral of what's got lost ....

Bla, bla, bla, bla, bla....

Emkay, do you know what is your biggest problem? You have no RESPECT for everyone who is not doing things in your way. You have shown that so many times and I really wonder if anybody here on AA cares what you say. I do not.

#2258999 Boulder Dash custom caves -> executable

Posted by _Fandal_ on Fri Apr 15, 2011 10:28 AM

For those who care: I wrote simple PC DOS utility for creating A8 standalone executable binary from BD Kit "CAV" and "INT" data files.

Great, thanks a lot!

Could you post some details about the EXE/cave structure and/or the source?

so long,

OK. More details. My utility uses BD engine compiled by Homesoft which is able to handle up to 47 levels. Number of caves is stored in the last byte of engine data block. The first cave is strored at memory address $60F0, the second one on $62F0, the third one on $64F0 and so on. I don't have any source of engine itself, I just received compiled binary and instructions how to use. :) All my work was to write that short PC DOS program.

#2123725 Robix

Posted by _Fandal_ on Tue Oct 26, 2010 4:40 PM

OK. Raster is not going to do that so someone else have to. Let me introduce Robix, the best game from ABBUC SW Compo 2010. Yes, Robix didn't win the compo (it scored the 4th place) but even authors or Ocean Detox (1st place) and h3x0r Deluxe (3rd place) know that results are joke and real winner is Robix. I think that someone had to say that finally!

Robix is original game, not just A8 remake of PC games, like Ocean Detox, h3x0r Deluxe or Jewel Bits. It was two years in development and it is a great horizontal shooter (the first real A8 shooter in more than 15 years) for one or two players. Especially dual mode is really fun because there is interaction between players, which is something very unusual on A8. The game has four stages with final bosses (the boss can be hit only in eyes area!) and all stages can be completed separately. Please note that you get better weapon or additional energy if you kill all enemies from a wave - so shoot 'em all! Robix is not easy game but it can be finished with some training. It just need some practice (like Zybex).

Happy gaming and please, share here your comments, feelings, opinions, experiences, etc.!

This thread is closed for Mr. Mario Krix aka emkay. We all know that you hate Raster (because your every second post here on AtariAge is "RMT is shit!") and that you hate Robix. So you would only repeate yourself again and again (as you usually do) and nobody in this thread wonders what you think about Raster or Robix. So, please, just stay away!

#2115525 File version of MidiMaze? Yes!

Posted by _Fandal_ on Fri Oct 15, 2010 9:44 AM

Hi all!

OK. Here is file version of MidiMaze for 256 kB machines. Enjoy!

Many thanks for help to Raster who tested my file version on real HW in network mode "Midimate" and to Kjmann who tested it in network modes "R1: (850)" and "XM310"!

#2048711 Beware I LIVE! Sinistar for 8-bit released!

Posted by _Fandal_ on Sun Jul 11, 2010 5:22 AM

YEah it'd be nice to have the NTSC version in EPROMable format too. Id like to have a permanent cart, but mxflash carts are expensive. Is the code set up for XEGS supercart banking or some other ROM access scheme?

Try my 32 kB XEGS cart image. I works fine under emulator but it needs some testing on real HW...
