  1. Same thing happened to me, but the good news is that you have to save the system settings for it to stick. So just turning the system on and off again will fix the issue (no reinstallation of the firmware necessary). On a related note, new firmware resets all the settings, so its kind of a pain in the ass to have to keep reassigning the confirm/cancel buttons and doing the whole place holder button assignment to swap b/y commands
  2. As stated by others, the NT Mini jailbreak doesn't support FDS roms BUT the Everdrive N8 does, so just pick one of those bad boys up and slam it into your NES slot on your mini. Problem solved.
  3. Has anyone seen the Retron HD? It's only $40, and claims it's all hardware based and is not an emulator box. Does anyone know if it's running an FPGA or what?
  4. Yeah, I am having the same issue with Holy Diver playing directly off of the SD card. I haven't messed around with the rom headers yet, just play it off my everdrive instead (having save states for this game makes it a little less frustrating anyway). On a side note, that game is seriously like 10x more amazing if you play it while listening to the Dio album of the same name. Honestly, I wish someone would create a rom hack with chip tune versions of Holy Diver instead of the original soundtrack.
  5. No one is "making up" the $500 price point as being a "good price". https://www.game-tech.us/product-category/pre-modified-consoles/ This is where the market is at. The above hdmi modded nes is made with a Kevtris created hdmi mod. Again, you are paying for his expertise and the consistent quality of work. He is arguably one of the most talented developers/ engineers when it comes to retro video game consoles/modifications, and as such products with his name tied to it come at a higher price point. I'm sensing some frustration in your posts that no one is agreeing with you that it's "too expensive". You are posting on a forum full of people who decided it's not too expensive, and are enjoying all the features (intended by the original manufacturer or not). We read you loud and clear, you don't want to buy one because of the price, but that doesn't mean everyone who doesn't agree with you is wrong (just like you're not wrong for not buying one). Regardless of whether or not the cores were "given away", they are useless to the average consumer without an NT Mini, so they should still be included in your assessment of whether or not the NT mini is a good value. Also, it all depends on personal preference. For someone like me who almost exclusively plays NES games, it was more than worth it. If you're a casual nes hobbyist, then of course it's not worth your time, and you'd be better suited with an AVS, raspberry pi, or OEM NES.

  7. The thing is, that the NT isn't really all that expensive when you consider a pre-modded HDMI NES will cost you $425-$500. Sure, the AVS is a steal at $180, but it doesn't have the same amount of features in terms of compatibility with accessories and video options. While it can be argued all the "best features" are as a result of a free jailbreak, that doesn't change the fact that Analogue was the company that chose to hire the developer who programmed the FPGA and gave away the jailbreak software, and that should be considered in the value comparison.
  8. Right? My NT just showed up in our entertainment system one day, and she has yet to ask about it...
  9. @ Kevtris Thank you for the reply. The whole Famicom expansion audio thing is fairly new to me, so I apologize if I'm asking a redundant question. Do I need the actual Famicom cartridge for Akamajou Densetsu to have audio like this: Or should the rom already have the expansion audio built in? Thank you, and thanks for creating/programming my favorite thing I've ever bought. My budget permitted either an NT Mini or a Nintendo Switch, and almost immediately I knew I made the right choice.
  10. Is it possible to run Famicom roms on the NES/Famicom core and access the expansion audio feature? Or do you need the physical cartridge for that?
  11. Seriously, FUCK 8Btido's controllers. The d-pad is an absolute nightmare where you need to hold down or up (Castlevania, Contra, Mega-Man 3, Super Mario) I scoured the internet looking for a fix, and even removed a d pad from an OEM NES Controller to swap with the NES30, and it actually made things worse. What i finally figured out was that I could sync my Wii Remote with the Retro receiver and plug in a Classic controller. The classic controller works flawlessly. I tried plugging in an SNES controller through a Wii Remote adapter, but for some reason it won't recognize the select button when it's pushed. I also tried hooking up an NES controller to my wii remote, but because the wii remote registers all external controllers as classic controllers, you can't play any games (as Classic Controllers/the Analogue NT use Y/B as the main inputs instead of A/B on the NES controller). Also, I agree with the other posters talking about how Contra is unplayable with the NES30. To all of you saying the NES30 is fine, try playing Contra and get back to us here at the forum. Honestly, since I synced my wii remote with my NT Mini, I haven't touched my NES30(s) (I stupidly bought an extra one so I could have two wireless controllers). Also, for the record, I was experiencing this same issue on my original NES long before I got my NT Mini, so it is not an Analogue problem, but an 8Bitdo hardware problem (their PCB contacts are bullshit) @Kevtris What do you recommend in terms of wireless controllers for the NES?
  12. Please explain this further, I don't quite understand what you're referring to
  13. Ah, so yeah, it sounds like you're doing everything right. Have you tried renaming the bootstrap in all lower case characters?
  14. Silly question, but have you tried the ROMs anywhere else? Could it be you have a bad rom pack? Also, how did you format your sd card (it needs to be FAT32 not exFAT). Also, are you extracting the jailbreak software directly to your freshly formatted sd card? Finally, what size sd card(s) are you using? If you got your bootstrap from Emu paradise, the bootstrap is fine. Make sure you extract it from the zip and then rename it as per the instructions (sorry if this makes you say "no shit", but I figure it's probably some small issue that's causing you issues)
