#4252548 Looking to get back into collecting for the Jaguar

Posted by Songbird on Fri Apr 5, 2019 9:26 PM

Check out my Songbird website, as I have several rare Telegames releases such as Breakout 2000 and Iron Soldier 2 in stock. Also I have Protector SE in stock which has been very popular with the fans over the past 15+ years. :)

#4250417 Working Atari 2600/VCS games on VirtualVCS

Posted by Songbird on Tue Apr 2, 2019 8:06 PM

Cool reference doc, thanks!

I just glanced through the VVCS source and can confirm I did not find any references to NUSIZ beyond a single declaration of two emulator variables. So it's defined, but not used in the code. Same is probably true for numerous other TIA features.

#4239586 Enabling music & sound FX mixing within Jaguar Doom source.

Posted by Songbird on Sat Mar 16, 2019 10:47 PM

Good work, CJ! I was always bugged by the status bar being off, but never spent time figuring out what made it do that. Also adding in the music is a nice touch -- I had done a quick hack to do it years ago, but noticed it distorted quite a bit, so I just left it off in future builds.

I still haven't gotten back to test the networking code I released 2+ years ago in the other thread. It worked flawless for me at the time, but I know at least Saturn reported there were still hang-ups. It's just so time-consuming to test, since you need to prove it will play for 60+ min without messing up.

#4239580 Scored a Jaguar rental case

Posted by Songbird on Sat Mar 16, 2019 10:37 PM

I have a Jaguar rental case. It's been so many years, not sure where I picked it up but it was probably from another Atari collector back in the early 2000s. Pretty cool and I still use it to house my Jag when it's not hooked up for dev work (it is hooked up right now ;) ).

#4230818 Zaku for the Atari Lynx: Official thread

I noticed a couple posts above the link to Songbird is broken. If you'd like to order Zaku, I have fewer than 20 copies left in stock right now on the Songbird website. At the rate they've been selling, they will all be gone before summer.

(Although, to be fair, he did say he was credited in Resurgence. So maybe you can trust him.)

#4225943 Songbird 20-year anniversary: sales, mysteries, and games, oh my!

Carl, do you know of some game licenses (preferably only 3D, not requiring a pixel artist) that would be easily obtainable, given your history/networking in the industry ?

I am asking, because I'm sure over the years, during all those conventions (and other networking scenarios), you came into contact with a lot of license holders. But, since it's just hobby, you do not have the manpower to engage in it (neither would I, this year, but it's a possible scenario later down the road).

Just an idea to think about...

If you're thinking Steel Talons or STUN Runner or Virtua Racing, then no. :) My best advice is that you just make the best, original game you can, and not worry about a license.

If there is a particular license for a semi-obscure game, shoot me a PM and we can talk. I've certainly reached out to a number of publishers over the years, but for obvious reasons I tend to focus on games which either already exist in prototype form or could be readily ported to the Jaguar or Lynx. Thus there could be some smaller licenses which I have overlooked.

Championship Rally: 4 players via comlynx

Crystal Mines II: Buried Treasure: 1 player, but also supports RAM download of a single level

CyberVirus: 1 player

Lexis: 1 player

Loopz: 2 players via comlynx

MegaPak: 8 players via "pass the device" for High Roller mini-game. Other mini-games are 1 player.

Remnant: 1 player
