  1. Have fun! Post some pix when you can! Is there an autograph topic somewhere? I couldn't find one. That'd be cool to be able to flip through a gallery of everyone's treasures!
  2. The added cost of a second label is what confuses me. The label with the white lettering on the side is stuck on top of the label with the gold lettering, as pictured above. I haven't seen this before. Maybe a game label stuck on top of a different game, but not on a variant, especially a fancier one. That gold lettering is nice! When I saw it peaking out from beneath the top label I felt like Charlie finding the Golden Ticket! Thanks for your feedback! It's like that show History Hunters when we explore the details.
  3. The other day I found a King Kong cartridge. When I got home I was looking more closely at it and realized that it had a double top label. I did a search to learn more about the history of the game and see if this was common, that's how I found this conversation. Interestingly, the label on the bottom has the gold lettering that was addressed earlier, it's covered up by the label with the white lettering. Does anyone know why they would double label? The lawsuit question is interesting, it makes it more confusing though because the gold label gives credit to Universal Studios, but so does the one on top. I just went back to look at the labels in the original post on this topic and noticed that the cart on the left might have a double label too! What's up with this? Thanks!
  4. I brought an Atari 2600 Jr to the PRGE last year with the hopes of having someone cool sign it. By the end of the day my silver pen was worn out and my console was dripping with memories. Al Yarusso got the tagging started ("Are you sure you want me to write on this?) then I hopped in line to meet David Crane and Gary Kitchen. Seriously, David Crane and Gary Kitchen. Next I approached the runway that was the Metal Jesus Rocks Crew autograph table....or was that a retro remix of the Last Supper? Ron Milner was sitting at a table by the Atari Museum, talking quietly with his son when I walked up and said, "Hello, would you please sign this, and could you write your name on the bottom so I can keep track of who signed it?" Nobody said no. Tim Lapetino was next, standing in a hallway...as if he's always there. Back upstairs to the autograph station where I found Ben Heck who actually thought to add the date, and my last conversation was with Scott Warshaw. It was like a weird dream where all these Atari types were hanging out and they all had time to say hello. To me. Thanks to everyone who decorated it, I'll cherish it forever! Can't wait for my next retro game show!
  5. I used a modded 2600 and an LCD projector to play games on the side of my house! I'd love to say that I was controlling my Dodge Em car with my real steering wheel and gas pedal, but no, it just looks that way. Maybe some day!

"Don't just watch TV. Play it."

  7. I had the same question and wrote directly to AtGames for clarification. The answer I received was, "Atari Portable screen will be smaller but have overall better quality this year." I'd rather have a larger screen, it's already really tiny. Playing Millipede any smaller will be more like playing Decapede! Adding a paddle option would be a game changer too, it's impossible to play games like Astroblast and Breakout with the D-Pad. Still, having an Atari to take to the waiting room at my therapist's office will probably reduce my number of visits over time. As soon as I see the Atari logo appear on the screen I feel better. Atari therapy! (No co-pay, all re-play!)
  8. I like to keep my Atari 2600 on while I'm working at my desk. The games I leave on are Centipede, Jr. Pac Man, H.E.R.O., or Milipede because they have great demo screens. Sort of my 8-bit lava lamp. Anybody recommend any other games that have fun "screen savers?" And what's the proper term for this feature?

Someone once described how they had their windows screensaver launch Stella with a specific game to serve as their screensaver . . . I thought that was cool

I seem to remember someone in college doing this, but with a tie dyed bandana over the screen...

  9. Atari, because, of course!

I have indeed played Atari today!

  10. Hey MR ATARI and everyone else who has responded to my post....thank you, you've made my day! I've been a fan of AtariAge for a long time, and finally plucked up the courage to post something. I've never seen such a supportive community as I've found in reading the forum threads here. Just cool people talking about stuff that we all love. I loved the posts about nobody noticing our Atari plates, guess if we want a nod/smile/thumbs up we'll need to park out in front of a Journey concert! I look forward to coming back and posting again when I have something to share or ask about. Y'all are the best! ps. Anyone has an Atari-themed license plate "laying in the garage," I may be interested in purchasing one or both. The awesomeness isn't lost on me!
  11. Got my ATARI 1 license plate in Massachusetts, can't wait to drive to Retro World Expo in CT in October! Did you drive Atari today?
