  1. I think pretty much everyone but Atari used channels 3/4. Where I lived channel 3 was the local NBC affiliate, so all of my consoles were on channel 4 except the 2600. To this day I can still tell you which channels were which networks where I grew up (3-NBC, 8-PBS, 10-ABC, 12-CBS), but because I use the onscreen menu to watch TV now, I struggle to remember which channel each network is on where I live now.
  2. Here's the first update of 2024, if nothing else earning me a spot on the 2024 WIP list. There are two main changes. First, I removed the random level regeneration triggering room that I added in the last update. Second, rifts now appear at every level. They are stationary in the first level, so they can easily be avoided (or entered intentionally if you find yourself stuck and want to use them to jump to a different part of the level). I also updated Galactopus a little. He will now shoot at you (I can't remember if he could do that yet in the last update I posted, but he definitely can now). The game is very nearly finished at this point. I don't plan on making any more major changes or additions, just tweaks and bug fixes. Shattered Earth 20240306.bin
  3. I thought of that after I posted, but VROOM only uses the buttons, not the rotary control and the QuadTari can only read the buttons. So VROOM works but you can't play Kaboom through a QuadTari.
  4. No. There's an FAQ on the QuadTari website that should clear things up, but basically the problem here is you're assuming that the 2600 would "see" everything plugged into the QuadTari as being plugged into the left port, which isn't the case. For games that aren't written specifically for the QuadTari, port 1 equals the left port, port 2 equals the right port and ports 3 and 4 don't exist. And the whole thing is kind of moot anyway because the QuadTari doesn't support the paddles. An extension cable is a better solution to your problem if you don't want to replace your joystick cable.
  5. I picked up Turbo Arcade at PRGE last year, but I haven't ordered anything from their website. Top quality cart and packaging (and, it goes without saying, the game on the cart is top quality too).
  6. Bumper Bash uses the paddle controllers. Holding both buttons at the same time pulls back the plunger, releasing them launches the ball. The control scheme alone makes it my favorite pinball game on the 2600.
  7. Game of the Bear and Game of the Bear 2 are both very good platformers.
  8. I started working on a Pico-8 version of Galactopus last year. Hopefully I'll be able to get back to work on it after I finish some other projects.
  9. Physical media will continue to exist, but it will be more of a niche/collector thing. The big companies seem to be realizing there's more money to be made selling digital-only games and proprietary storage systems than physical games, but I think there will still be a boutique market for small run publishers like Limited Run and huge, pricey "Limited Collector's Edition" versions of big releases for a while. "Merry Christmas, Timmy. Here's a 32-character redemption code for you to go enter into your Xbox for your new game. Now leave me alone so I can watch the game."
  10. The escalator game is Keystone Kapers, the racing game is Enduro and the skiing game looks like maybe Ski Hunt. SpaceVision released a lot of multicarts like this. @Rom Hunter can tell you more about it than I can. http://www.atarimania.com/list_games_atari-2600-vcs-spacevision_publisher_2138_2_G.html
  11. The 2600+ has pretty good 4K and 8K compatibility, so I'm less worried about the game working than I am the custom controller. If the controller won't work with the 2600+, then it's a hard pass for me (the 2600+ that is, KR2600 is a day one buy for me and has been for 20 years now). The real question that needs to be answered is how many sales of KR2600 the 2600+ will add to the original 1000 to 5000 estimate. 10,000? 20,000?
  12. I think I speak for everyone here (or at least everyone who was too lazy to do a Google search for this thing) when I ask: Do the scanner lights work? Also, will this be included with the Super-Duper Deluxe edition of Knight Rider 2600 when it is released?
  13. Are there any plans to make the map available to those who purchased the game at PRGE?
  14. A couple of them are OK. Beat 'Em is a decent enough Kaboom knockoff and Cathouse Blues isn't bad, sort of an adult take on Blueprint. But mostly they're only interesting as weird historical artifacts.
  15. Even taking the conversion rate into account (about $130 U.S.) that seems awfully high for a loose cart. Granted, I paid 25 bucks for my CIB copy back in the 90's (and that felt like an arm and a leg for a 2600 game then), so my perspective might be a little skewed.
