  1. Normally I wouldn't respond to insults... @tebe I understand how RastaConverter works and my ears are still good enough to hear the difference of sample quality. @all other Just to explain... International Karate was the favorite game in my childhood. My friends and i played it for so many times. My motivations were to create a version that integrates the really beautiful new backgrounds to the original code. It wasn't as easy as one would think. It is clear to me that more than half of the available CPU time is now used for displaying the background graphic. And yes, something must suffer, in this case the sample quality. But I found that happens in a tolerable way. If you want, you can deactivate the samples with Ctrl+S. This version merges the almost 40 year old code with the current possibilities. In my opinion there seems to be no better way to implement the backgrounds without completely reprogramming the game...
  2. I have created an International Karate Version with the new backgrounds available here in this thread... http://www.mushca.com/f/atari/index.php?search=karate(130xe) Some more Backgrounds are welcome... ps. Could someone please test it on real hardware (PAL and NTSC if possible, i don't have any at the moment)...
  3. Here are some modified versions which center the (REALLY BEAUTIFUL) Title Screens like all other RastaConverter Title Versions at my site... Silent Service http://www.mushca.com/f/atari/index.php?search=SilentService(TitleVersion) Yogi's Great Escape http://www.mushca.com/f/atari/index.php?search=GreatEscape(TitleVersion2) Zorro http://www.mushca.com/f/atari/index.php?search=Zorro(extendedVersion)
  4. I changed my conversion a little so it runs on a PAL System with orginal speed and colors...
  5. I like the tune of The Last V8 very much! I have integrate it to my extended version... http://www.mushca.com/f/atari/index.php?idx=T#051|THE_____
  6. These two versions from my site will detect the video system and set the corresponding colors ...
  7. Just to explain ... Sometimes I create fixed, improved file versions of older games which are not in my collection yet to fill the disk images (for example "Lode Runner" (you can switch between color and monochrome with console keys, all levels of the original version are integrated in the fileversion). Otherwise it would possibly take years until an image is full because unfortunately not so much new games appears ...
  8. I found 3 locations where someting was checked: $9847..., $a176..., $a217... - all checks are disabled now...
  9. They create a checksum from memory at $501-$5ff (original boot loader) and compare the result with $240. The address pointers are build with indirect addressing and bit operations so there was no direct access to the relevant meory (have a look at $a217) ... @_The Doctor__ http://www.mushca.com/f/atari/index.php?idx=L#138|LASEANIA
  10. I have compiled a (hopefully complete) list of games with speech / samples. http://www.mushca.com/f/atari/index.php?search=sample If you use a fairly current browser and have Flash Plugin installed or at least javascript activated, then you are able to use the play button at the respective entry to hear the samples (press play again for next subsong).
  11. I convert the sample data from C64 and integrate it to the A8 version which got no speech until now...
  12. Use an Emulator and change the byte at adress $1935 to #$ad and you got every time you need to finish the game...
  13. I create a version with the speech from C64... http://www.mushca.com/f/atari/index.php?idx=T#051|THE_____ Looks like they "forgot" it in the good old times
