  1. Wow.... I guess I didn't expect this level of vitriol. I'm sorry that my 7 year old self getting a computer from parents where one made minimum wage, and the other barely made more than that, and saved up for several years to give it to their kid with ADHD and medical issues qualifies as a "Mommy and Daddy" and privilege story.
  2. I got extremely lucky that my parents bought me an Atari 800XL, XF551 drive, XM301 modem and Okimate 10 at Federated in Bakersfield, CA in 1985/86. They didn't let me use the modem, but I did get the occasional magazine, and I remember getting these shareware catalogs on floppy in the mail, then I'd print an order form and use my allowance to buy various bits of shareware via the mail.
  3. I had an email notification set on this thread, so I grabbed it as soon as he posted that he had them on the store (I only bought one). I've been waiting for a couple of years to get one. I'm excited to install it in the next couple of days!
  4. There's a big difference between what you can do and what you should do. If you're an adult, you should know this by now.
  5. Just stop it. This is someone's project they're happy to work on. If you don't like it, then it's not the right project for you. Close the tab, move on.
  6. I have one of the RGB to SCART adapters and a stupid cheap SCART to HDMI converter. I'm an American, and I use it for the CoCo3 and it works *just fine* and gives a beautiful display on the CoCo3. This would be your easiest way to hook a CoCo3 up to a modern display. Also works great for an Atari ST and a ZX Spectrum and other machines. There are also SCART switches out there you can get on eBay or whatever, so you don't need tons of extra converters. I have a Hydra from Lotharek for that purpose.
  7. Micol Advanced Basic GS will probably do everything you want. It's text mode though. http://boutillon.free.fr/Docs/Programmation/Micol_Advanced_Basic_4_5/Micol_Advanced_Basic_4_5.html
  8. Are they already gone? Bummer. I really want one!
  9. I'm noticing that it says 8.67 PB, as in petabyte. Either that's a bug, or your card is bad.
  10. The Marpet Xtra +8 for the Mega ST is likely not what is wanted here - I have that board. It uses the Mega ST's expansion port, and requires TOS 2.06. The RAM is alt-RAM.
  11. I used this combination for a while. The GBS-8220 isn't perfect. You will see weird artifacts on the output. The Best cable is fantastic, but, without something like a GBS or an OSSC you're going to need a monitor that can do 15kHz. Nowadays, I use this ST to SCART cable with the OSSC, or I plug it into my Sony PVM. That turned out to be the best solution for me. I also use a TOM rev2 mouse adapter with little trouble. I find the original ST mouse to be annoying slow.
  12. Thom is right on the fig-FORTH implementations, but there are a few implementations that can read DOS files: X-FORTH, VolksForth for example. They both have an INCLUDE" word, used like: INCLUDE" D1:MYFILE.FS"
  13. I'd love to help with getting some of this over to the wiki, is there a process I can apply for edit access? ?
  14. It would be awesome to add this detail (and extra toolkit!) to AtariWiki!
