Infiltrate supposed to be licenced game or something?

Mon Oct 1, 2012 6:02 PM

Hey,
For all I know this has been brought up here a million times, but was Infiltrate supposed to be a licenced game that got switched or something?  Because, even for a 2600 game, this one has stuff in the manual and on the box bearing no, and I mean NO, resemblence to the game.  The "assassins" are really cute, and don't look assassin-y.  The guy looks like a cowboy.  And the base looks like a rainbow.  How this is a top secret base invasion against killers is beyond me, even by 2600 standards.  It could just as easily have been a space cowboy trying to get off a UFO, or something much closer to the gameplay.

Again, I've been playing 2600 for over 25 years, so I'm used to the "use your imagination" thing.  But Super Breakout could be in space.  Those could be Dragons in Adventure.  And PacMan just IS Pacman.  This is a stretch even for those standards.

Looking at it, I thought (and I'm certain I'm not the first one) that this looks like someone was making a game for McDonalds and had the plug pulled.  I mean, come on.  That guy is the Hamburgler.  Those are Fry kids.  He is in a colourful McDonald's play land.  He is stealing burgers.  He's throwing paddies at them.  Done.  McDonald's game.

Difficulty switches

Sat Sep 29, 2012 5:10 AM

I am certain this has been done a million tmes on here, but the search results I got had about a million threads and I can't be bothered to look through all that.

What are the 2600 difficulty switch equivalent positions on the 7800?  Is it left for A, right for B, or the opposite?  Are both switches the same, or is one right for A the other left for A?  And why the heck didn't they label them?  I rarely use the 7800 for 2600 games where the switches matter, but am going to join the 2600 HSC, so I need to know.

Fixing the power button

Thu Sep 27, 2012 10:09 AM

Hey.  My original 7800 that got me into collecting for the system way back in 2004 is partly dead (I have mentioned this here before I believe).  However, I can't throw it out because it's the first one I had for what has gone on to become, far and away, my favourite system of all time.  Also, it's only partly dead.  See, it still works fine when it can power up.  It just doesn't respond to the power button anymore.  Neither pressing the button nor pushing the actual piece under the power button (inside the case) reliably starts it anymore.  It may start one press in 100, if you press the thing under the power button in a very, very  specific way using the edge of a screw driver or a fingernail or something.

Is there a really low tech solution to the broken power thing.  I mean, I think as a 31 year old father of 2, it's time I got over being afraid of simple stuff like soldering, if I even need to do that.  Is there a way to just, like, replace that thing with a piece of wire I can touch there or something?  My understanding is I'm only trying to compelte a circuit, and that doesn't sound too hard.  And I can pick up a sldering kit if necessary and give it a try I'm sure.

Any advice?

(UPDATE: ALL SOLD) For sale: Diner, Atarivox, Kill the Attacking Aliens

Tue Aug 7, 2012 6:31 AM

Hey,
Over the last couple years I've been getting rid of almost all my collection (keeping only the 7800 collection which is nearing completion).  Mostly I've sold to this little used game shop around here, but some of the items weren't priced right, or at all, by them.  What that has left is the three items listed above.

Diner is in a poor box.  See picture.

The Atarivox was opened in the past, as I used to only have a 7800 and the only way to fit it was to remove the top of the Vox.  It still works.

KTAA is without a manual as my wife threw it out by mistake.

I have been told by Canada post that shipping in a bubble envalope will be $6 to the U.S. and about $16 to Canada (I am in Canada, so see what we have to deal with).

I now have a Paypal account (set up just for this, as I never used it before), so I can accept funds that way.  As this is my first transaction on there, if you need something to vouche for me I'd suggest tracking back my posts and seeing how long I've been here, and PacMan Plus has sold me a ton of stuff direct before and, I hope, will vouche for the fact that all my money orders have arrived as promised.

If you're interested in any of the items, make me an offer in PM.  I'm not exactly sure what to ask for this stuff, so I'll let you know if it's acceptable by Monday.  If I get an incredible offer before then, I'll post here that the item is gone.  Calculate $6 shipping into the price for U.S. and $16 (which probably makes it not worth it) for Canada.  I can't really do further than that.
