  1. It's wild how much faster BASIC XL is than Atari BASIC.

It is. You shoud check out Fastbasic. It's even faster, new, and still maintained.

Yeah, I've seen some things people have made with FastBasic, and it's very cool. I'll have to try it one of these days :)

I really like the lack of line numbers in Fastbasic. Makes editing your text very easy. Fun stuff. Well worth a look. :)

  2. Not mine. Sorry to hear that. Goes to show what all the packing is for.
  3. Draconian - Absolutely lovely game. I played one of the release candidate ROMs for years and could never really justify the cost of a box, it's only right I finally make good on this one. Star Fire - Fun game. I've still never played the arcade original, but this homebrew version has a place in my heart. It was relatively new when I got into Atari and I had a bunch of fun messing with emulator settings to slow down the game and analyze the music and the title screen animation.
  4. EDIT: I ran the flasher with root privileges, and it actually worked. I successfully updated to the November 6th firmware. I tried using the 1.4.0 release, following the link in the first post. It does not run. My system is substantially the same as during every other attempt like this (x86-64 Fedora 37, kernel version 6.0.18) [evie@neonlicht FujiNet-Flasher-v1.4.0_linux-x64]$ ./FujiNet-Flasher GLib-GIO-Message: 13:01:06.613: Using the 'memory' GSettings backend. Your settings will not be saved or shared with other applications. (FujiNet-Flasher:221077): GLib-GIO-ERROR **: 13:01:06.613: Settings schema 'org.gnome.settings-daemon.plugins.xsettings' does not contain a key named 'antialiasing' Trace/breakpoint trap (core dumped)
  5. I'm very late to this, but I downloaded the current x86_64 Linux flasher from fujinet.online (unless I'm very mistaken and the flasher in the first post of this thread is not yet being offered on the official website), and it does not run on my system (Fedora Linux 36). It produces this terminal output: GLib-GIO-Message: 21:30:14.186: Using the 'memory' GSettings backend. Your settings will not be saved or shared with other applications. (FujiNet-Flasher:66024): GLib-GIO-ERROR **: 21:30:14.186: Settings schema 'org.gnome.settings-daemon.plugins.xsettings' does not contain a key named 'antialiasing' Trace/breakpoint trap (core dumped) Additionally, I checked the systemd journal for coredump messages and found two of them for each attempted run. I've attached the messages printed by coredumpctl for one such pair here (one of the files is very long). fedora-fujinet1.txt fedora-fujinet2.txt
  6. Got my local TNFS server up and running :D

  7. It works!! Thank you so much, tmp! AVGCART is now a perfect fit for my needs.
  8. I will report back when I get home from work. ?
  9. I hadn't been checking on firmware updates, so I was elated to see the addition of the SDX-stacking function. Unfortunately, I cannot get it to work at all. Here's my setup: -NTSC Atari 65XE (no ECI port) -AVGCART (firmware 0025, EXTRAM not enabled) -FujiNet There are a couple cartridges (AtariWriter, Microsoft BASIC) that have a strange boot-time conflict with the FujiNet, so I'm wanting to use SDX with the offending cartridges stacked on top so that I can defer their bootup and avoid the conflict. As instructed in De Re AVGCART, I have copied an SDX image into the _AVGCART folder on the SD card, with the proper filename; I've tried several versions, in fact (attached to this post). The problem manifests like this: -AVGCART boots up into the file picker -I navigate to a desired utility cartridge and execute the CTRL-SHIFT-RETURN key chord --If FujiNet is off or not plugged in, the bootup fails and the Self-Test ROM is active, as if a cartridge were not present at all --If FujiNet is on, the bootup fails with a message of "Error: No DOS" The bootup fails consistently no matter which utility cartridge I choose. I wonder if the stacking function is sensitive to the SDX hardware version (as listed here). I originally tried the SIC! Cartridge version, since it contains the manpages, but the problem persists with the "Altirra and Atari800 emulators" version too. I have not yet tried the other versions, but my hopes are not high. 10. Okay, I circumvented my issue by enabling the RPM Fusion free repository, which has up-to-date Stella, and the emulator installed and starts up just fine. I still wonder, though, why the .rpm from the Stella website does not work out of the box
  11. On Fedora Workstation 34, x86_64: I'm trying to install 6.5.3 with the RPM archive from the github.io site, but this is the response I get: I'm not familiar with the RPM packaging process, so I don't know how minor the issue might be.
  12. Very cool! I'll check those out.
  13. My apologies if this question has already been answered (this is a very long thread, and my search terms have not clarified things much): I recently received an AVGCART and have gotten it preliminarily set up. Besides emulating game cartridges, my other big reason to use AVGCART is to dive into using SpartaDOS X. I noticed on tmp's YouTube channel a video showing off Action! being run as a stacked cartridge on top of SDX (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6vc6JYne79o). Perhaps I have simply not read the manual closely enough, but is the ability to use stacked cartridge images currently in the production firmware? In any case, I give hearty thanks for such a well-made device!
  14. Rescue on Fractalus! What a wonderful game!
