Refurbishing an Xbox 360 Controller

Sat Jan 5, 2013 12:53 PM

Hi all.  I'm hoping that I might get some guidance on this.  I'm placing this thread into the general 'Modern Gaming' section in case people know of some sites that are not specific to just Xbox 360 that have the appropriate parts.

Basically I have an older 360 controller that I'd like to refurbish myself.  Does anyone know of a site that sells controller refurb parts in a kit?  If so that'd be nicer than ordering everything seperately.  Absent a kit, does anyone know of a site to get the necessary parts to refurbish a controller even seperately?

What kind of parts am I talking about?  Well, at least the joysticks themselves (mine are completely worn).  But beyond that, I don't know.  I kind of figured that there'd just be some general parts (springs, seals, etc. maybe?) that typically get replaced when someone is refurbishing a controller.

Finally, does anyone know what kind of screws hold together a 360 controller and where to get such a driver?  I bought the 2 sizes of gamebits earlier this year in order to work on my Gamecube.  But the screws I'm seeing on my 360 controller seem to be a bit different and even smaller.

Thanks in advance for the help guys!

Installing multiple-disc games to hard drive

Sun Dec 23, 2012 5:16 PM

Are there any practical issues with installing multi-disc games to the HDD?  I'm thinking specifically Blue Dragon or Lost Odyssey. I don't think I've ever tried it before and I just wanted to verify that when it comes time in the game to switch discs that having them all on the HDD didn't cause any issues.

Lost Odyssey (Xbox 360) CIB

Hi everyone, looking to pick up Lost Odyssey for Xbox 360.

Square Enix games - any of these worth picking up?

Fri Dec 14, 2012 8:27 AM

I had a real internal conflict last night about this Square Enix sale. It has brought a lot of games down to my $10 level (and free shipping!) that I try to buy most of my games at. Yet with recent sales at Microsoft and EA (along with a few previous backlogged games and what I expect to be at least one for Christmas) I have so many games in the 'to play' list that I couldn't bring myself to buy any. This even though I've made a promise to myself to purchase no new games after 2012 in order to simply play my backlog down and replay old 360 favorites in anticipation of and until the next Xbox console drop.

D'oh!

But I'd like some feedback from you guys.  The following games are now at my $10 level....are any really good to the point where backlog or not, at this price, I should definitely be picking up?
  • Risen 2
  • Nier
  • Supreme Commander 2 (actually $7.49)
  • Kane and Lynch 2 (I played the 1st one, so I was thinking of picking this up if only to play the sequel)
  • Infinite Undiscovery
What do you guys think?

I've heard that of the bunch Risen 2 may be 'the best' (that being in the eye of the beholder, of course).  But, one of the reviews I read was very adimant that there was a bit of a lack of direction as far as where to go next for quests, etc.  For what I understand to be a large RPG, that scares me a little bit (I don't have unlimited amounts of game playing time, so in all honesty sometimes I appreciate the glowing breadcrumb trail telling me where to go next).

But I digress....tell me I should pick at least some of these up for $10....please! :)
