  1. I had a lot of trial and error wiring up the din connector for s-video, but the mod is complete! Thank you for all the help! The s-video is crisp and vibrant!
  2. Thank you, I fixed the TIA wiring mistakes and switched the grounding to the UAV ground wire along with attaching the resistors to the correct solder pad on the board (it's slightly different than in the pictures from others). Composite video and stereo audio are both working perfectly now and no buzz. Now I'm just waiting to get the s-video jack in the mail and I'll work on that next.
  3. Ok, I fixed the video. Hurray! I followed your pinout instructions and that resolved the video problem. Also, I had the UAV "S" pin on the outside instead of the inside, so that was just a mistake. The TIA pinout instructions from the diagram/picture a few posts back are actually incorrect. They had the pinouts going to 7 and 8 rather than 6 and 7 and I was following that schematic. So where should I pull the audio from to fix the buzzing sound? I know the channels come together to a mono output.
  4. Ok, here's some pictures of my work. I'm pretty sure I have it wired just as you've described here. Could I have a cross-solder joint perhap? I haven't really checked with my multi-meter for tone on that. Also, any idea where I can pull the audio from besides the two pins for stereo on an Atari Vader board? I looked through this thread and I don't see information about that? Thank you!
  5. Hello, thanks for the reply. I tried out the mod today and I have a video issue with rolling distorted video. Along with a buzz in the audio. 😕 Did I lift the right resistor?
  6. Bacterion - It's a magazine game clone of the arcade game "Rip Off". http://www.atarimania.com/game-atari-400-800-xl-xe-bacterion_467.html My Dad and I used to play this game together and it's really good. Fast-paced and intense as the difficulty ramps up with each new stage.
  7. So I'm planning on doing this mod with my Vader Atari 2600, but my TIA chip and my board revision are slightly different. Do you think that the instructions would be identical to the diagram that you have above for a C010444-11D TIA chip and board C015519 REV 17? Thanks!
  8. Thank you for the answers on this! While I like the music, I mostly just want to hear the game sound effects. I'll give Ctrl-S a try!
  9. Thanks for the shoutout on my Twitch video! Here's the YouTube video of the same stream. Great game and I look forward to playing it again on stream!
  10. So I've posted before about how much I love Star Raiders and previously live-streamed a "Star Commander Class 1" game. After sharing that with my Dad and my Uncle, they said "Well, that's good, but can you beat Warrior difficulty with no shields on?". I said that seems ridiculous, but apparently my Uncle had done this in the past. Challenge accepted! Here's a YouTube video of my livestream game where I complete Warrior difficulty with _no shields_. I take no hits. Despite this perfect game, because of the lower difficulty my final score was still only Captain Class 5 (which seems crazy). For what it's worth, they said that completing "Commander" difficulty with no shields must be impossible. I tried that for a couple of games, and made it to 7 or 8 kills with no shields on. I agree that it seems impossible, but maybe we'll keep trying.
  11. Deepstone Catacomb is an absolutely fantastic homebrew game! The graphics, sound and gameplay are incredibly impressive and I love the homage it pays to video game classics like "The Legend of Zelda" and "Adventure". I completed the hardest difficulty (game mode 2) on my Twitch livestream last evening. You can watch the YouTube video here:
  12. Shields always on. I understand that's a way to save energy, but it's so deadly to have them off ever. Random asteroid hits and flying into a sector are big risks for that. If you can be quick about things, you can leave them up.
  13. You are correct! If you want the highest score, you must play on "Commander" difficulty. Anything lower and the highest score is not achievable. While the highest difficulty is really tough, there are a few tips that help make it more manageable. 1. Keep the enemy ships near the bottom of the screen while engaging, just enough so that you can hit them with your photons but they can't strike back (easily). Never fight enemy ships in the crosshairs. 2. When warping into a sector, try to steer around any enemy ships as you slow down on arrival. Taking an immediate hit when you warp into a sector is bad news. 3. Manage energy when jumping. Don't make long jumps unless you absolutely must. You can save energy by jumping in two short jumps rather than one long jump to reach far away sectors with enemies. Again, these are from my father who trained me well.
