Ever notice how "da masses" sounds a lot like "dumb asses?" That's not a coincidence.
Ever notice how that show "Paula Zahn Now" on CNN sounds suspiciously like a morbidly obese former faned's last name? LOL!
My opinion is that Nintendo's games are timeless. Grand Theft Auto is a fad that will eventually run its course, just like Tomb Raider did nearly ten years ago. When the fad games lose their appeal, people will still be buying Mario games.
Actually, Jess, you might want to duck soon. According to unnamed source, Mario is being "reimagined" by some Western developers. Being a big-shot website editor, I've seen the prototype of "Mario's Family" and those expecting Mario's next outing to be like the others are in for a shock.
"The Plumber" takes on a whole new level of menace when he's being voiced by James Gandolfini. And while you'll find the famous pipes, mushrooms and Princess Toadstool in the new game, they're all in completely different contexts. For example, there's a character named Yoshi, but she's a hard nosed hooker with a coke problem. Think of it sort of like the new Battlestar Galactica, only applied to the Mario theme.
People often write off younger gamers as inconsequential, but I think they're seriously underestimating their importance to the industry. After all, how young were YOU when you started playing video games? My point exactly.
JR
Actually, I didn't start playing videogames until I was 21, geezer that I am. Probably explains why I'm so clueless about them.
PS: How come whenever I hear "Inconsequential," I'm immediately reminded of Dr. Evil?
Your Pal,

1st post on AA, and last probably.
