  1. got an email response from them that seems to suppor that idea it reads as follows: Hello, thank you for your interest in our RM 800XL.Design work is currently underway, and the finished product is to be available in 2024.We will keep you informed about the development on Twitter and in the future also on Facebook.Twitter account: https://twitter.com/rm_800xlBest regards, larekRM Team
  2. Ok that covers software...any recommendation on what printers are best.
  3. I just got a atari 800 off ebay...I could not resist the form factor of the machine that teased me for years in the back of Sears catalogs back in the day when I couldn't afford nothing. Well, the machine survived shipping. I wanted to inspect the card slots and cards before a test with power but I could not get the top off or open. I saw mention that some models had this top screwed down. How do I tell if i have that and which screws have to come out if I do.
  4. well, I switched the the original cartridge and I went back and forth with action.xex and I got everything to work. The break() that is coming from the includes in my program for the runtime. I take those out and it thinks...oh break key hit...and sure enough I examine a variable and it is correct. I connected the sio2pc with respectq and I could not get a keyboard lock or crash behavior. so YES people it works...thank you to anyone who put effort into this awesome product. I just love the keyboard mapping versus mist core.
  5. Yes my action cartridge is like that, and no I didn't load the software onto it. Looks like it works fine for you...can you try one thing...put break() at the top of a simple program. And compile and run that...when break executes you should wind up at the monitor. But I wind up at the spartados prompt. At which point I enter dir. But tonight I just got a dos listing at that point. No buffer messages.
  6. Attached is my configuration. My machine was built by MacRorie in woodland, ca....and if you follow his youtube channel. The first preshipment video he did is my machine. I did discuss the keyboard lock up issue with the action cartridge and I sent him my configuration and he was never able to duplicate it. I actually sent him my first Atarimax cartridge for action since he didn't have one and ordered a second one. When I got the second one the keyboard lock problem didn't appear. So I thought i was good. But no you use it further and it will lock up. So I unplugged the SIO2PC and then I was working fine until I hit the break() issue. I don't have atari writer. I never liked that back in the day, so I wrote a replacement for my use in action. but I do have BasicXL I can try. And my original action cartridge came in, I can try that to see if anything changes. BasicXL doesn't have a break function as far as I know, but I could read and write a basic program from the disk and see how that goes. flashjazzcat sorry I think I got a little frustrated when it clearly didn't work. I know your BIOS is in this machine for example. external cartridges not affected? humm...not sure what you mean...not sure what you are advising me to try. I will try the original and see how it handles the break() and the keyboard issue I saw. xel1088_config.zip
  7. I am working with a 1088XEL with ultimate megabyte and SDX on it. First problem i have is if SIOPC is plugged in..and the action! is present the keyboard locks up. I even got the computer to squeal until reset. I unplugged the SIOPC and moved on. I create the most basic of program and it runs but it doesn't do what I expect on screen. So I put a break() function call in the program....when this is executed i am dropped out of action! to the dos prompt...and I do a dir and get a symbol not found error over and over until i reset the machine. This is all with a atarimax version of the cartridge. I have a original cartridge coming. But at this rate the 1088xel while a great machine is not workable for action! development as far I can I tell... Yea I have have made some mistake... Any ideas? Personally I think there is something with the break handler going on and maybe some SDX magic I am ignorant to.
  8. ok I create a empty atr...atx to atr now shows up but complains load the .atx image first. So I load the .atx, convert atx to atr. save the atr only to find the .atr is 16 bytes long.
  9. trying to convert .atx to atr...no joy the option never comes up after I load my .atx file...any ideas? Lode_Runner_Broderbund_Software.zip
  10. I got my mist computer this weekend and fired off a bunch of cores and they all worked including Atari 800xl. But I went to type 10 print “hello world” and quote didn’t show up. Figured out why and mist has a key mapping feature in the mist.ini that might fix it up. Anyone got a mist.ini that maps Atari to modern keyboard?
  11. yea I am very suspicious of the switch. Thinking either replacement or bypassing might be in order. I am using comp right now....I have a video DUN cable split into yellow, red, white and black...and I was only able to connect red white and yellow currently...for I have no place to connect the black luma/chroma connection currently. Going to replace the video cable with a video DUN to svideo cable, so all the wires can be hooked up.
  12. Back in the day I had a 1200xl and a action! cartridge and I went nuts programming it. I went through about 5 1050 drives reading and writing code. Fast forward many years and I want to get back into this and Atari games for fun and relaxation. This time most likely going to go with a SIOPC of some kind and leave the 1050 out of it. I have poked around and found many addons available and Lotharek and Poland seems like the place to get the really nice stuff. Ok I wanted to get a 800xl to get back into this...so I selected a retrobrited system with a supervideo 2.0 already installed. ebay tested and working. Sure enough the system looks like a brand new one. But hook it up and first no sound just a hum...so turn the sound off on the tv... then the video starts to drop off after an hour or so...and if you put your figure on the toggle switch on the back for the supervideo 2.0 and push to the right...oh your back on...until you remove your figure. So I figure sound might be a result of something I don't have hooked up right...but the toggle switch issue...sounds like a grounding problem to me. But not really looking for someone to diagnose this issue on here...oh yea I will take any tips that show up. But I have more basic questions about this supervideo 2.0 to start off. 1) Anybody got any data on what it is or how it is installed...etc...any web link I find on it does not seem to come up. 2) Is it even worth bothering with versus a stock box? It seems to me it has been replaced by more advanced video enhancements that not only give clear picture but more resolution modes etc. See if I can't get this thing stabilized enough to use without pain I might be able to get a working box and maybe swap working motherboard for the cleaned up keyboard, and case from this one...but any soldering or soldering is not something I do....I am a software guy who can turn a screw and plug in cables etc...that is about it. I also wonder if a new in box unit is worth the price they try to get for them. With this one I figured I was getting the benefit of the other guys restoration efforts. But this supervideo is leaving me with a less than super feeling...for if I had a stock box...and it didn't work...well, that is at least a known configuration...supervideo 2.0 huh...really thinking of a second system if for no reason to have a comparison point...for at this point...I don't know what the svideo to hdmi converter I put into this is dealing me. The tv in use is a uhd 49" which is way over kill but nice to have loderunner for example a huge screen. But also thought of getting a Commodore 1701 for a reference test on the video and sound. Thank you David
