  1. Hi there. I recall similar issues with SD cards when the retron 77 came out. See if this post helps you get your SD card formatted and working...
  2. Great news Al! Is Atari going to put a stop to the sale of SD cartridges? Will Atariage become a point of sale for official Atari products?
  3. What is normal/expected when advertising a yard sale that will have vintage video games for sale? We're planning now and I want to make sure those interested know about it.

Why not just throw in the words "vintage video games" or "retro video games" or something like that?  That's all I'd need to pay attention.

Sometimes on a Yard Sale sign on a telephone pole by the road, it will say clothes, dishes, XBOX,...And  so on...

  4. This is my favorite feature on AA. It's nice just to say hi once In a while. I think I've left the house maybe 20 times in the last 2 years. Working from home, health is poor, doing my best to stay active. Trying to play guitar again, haven't touched it in years. So I guess that's my status for now. ✌️

Can relate on the guitar part.   Didn't have an urge for a long time, but want to give it another go.

  5. Is there such a thing as a multi game mame board? Something that I can build a cabinet around and simply plug into a monitor and controllers? I googled but I'm unsure of what I'm finding...

I think most people looking for that are probably going to use a Raspberry Pi.  It can be just the board running the software, so you don't need an expensive case etc.  Just gotta keep the chips cool (just like any board).

I've never done it because I have so many old computers that can run MAME that I just haven't bothered with RPi.

I know what you mean. But the answer is really any PC motherboard or R-Pi. I seem to recall there are Jamma adapters for those too of course.

  6. I feel like long statuses should have a feature to expand so we can read the entire message.?

Just in case you didn't happen to know, clicking the time will do that, although it moves out of the forum view to the poster's page. Definitely agree it would be nice to be able to expand the actual status the way you can expand replies.

  7. Food for thought: which retro console would make the best multi game arcade cabinet?

I've often thought a PS2 would work pretty well, as it would have access to all those arcade comps (mostly on PS1) and all the PS1/PS2 games.  But also a modded XBOX from what I've been told.

Y'know, I imagine I am completely wrong, and certainly not beefing on anyone else for their own ideals, but for as old as some of the early disc based systems are, I still don't quite put them in "retro" yet.

(Remember when Guns and Roses showed up on classic rock stations...?)

      :)

Teasing, but I do mostly play mid 80's cart based systems-

I have a(n old)"supercomputer", last thing I was playing before I got trapped in high scoring was Formula One 2015, I think, it was super nice.

Well, I "regressed" for several years, some sporadic PS2 and all(Activision anthology doesn't quite count as "modern..."), but about a year or so ago I got an OG X-Box, never had one before, and played MotoGP2 for a good while.

To me-the modern Formula one was certainly better, sharper, etc, but it still amazed me, when I looked at how "old" the MotoGP2 for Xbox was, at how good it looked.

I'm not the Retro Police, lol, I swear, that's just how I imagine retro, in my kinda uneducated, closed minded world.

I think the reality is, I'm just old...

      :P

  8. The story There's a long story behind these consoles. I'll try to make it short. Between 2012 and 2015 I bought several small lots of Atari 2600 stuff. Nothing serious, just trying to get my hands of some games I wanted to play. Out of those lots I got some cartridges, joysticks, and broken consoles. I thought I'd try to fix those consoles, but never could and ended up completely ruining those motherboards. A few years ago, I bought three new-old-stock Atari 2600 motherboards from Best. So now I have three consoles that work. The RF signals looks good (tested on a JVC crt TV). I tested out some Activision carts, and some paddle games, everything works. But remember, these motherboards are 40 years old and are going to need some work eventually. For example, the power buttons on all three are sensitive: if you turn them on gently they go on, if you toggle them hard they don't. My fear is that if they just sit around not being used they'll start to deteriorate. Power Adapters & (no) Controllers Now, I have only two 3rd party power adapters and I don't know who might need one. So if you need one let me know and I'll stick one in the box for you. I can't offer any paddles or joysticks because I keep those with my 7800 and 800XL. Condition The conditions of the consoles vary a bit but all look good. The Darth Vader model is missing the S/N label and looks like it might have some crayon on it? The 811022573 model has some of the paint wearing off around the switches. For 40 year old consoles I think they look great! If you want more photos please ask and I will get those attached right away. Shipping I can ship these in USPS Large Flat Rate boxes (the flat rate being $21.50) My asking price <insert sob story here> I'll let each console go for $60.00. That's the cost of the motherboard plus half the shipping. The process If you want a console, PM me with the model you want (811022573, 827548632, or "Bob") and I will send you my paypal email address. Also tell me if you want one of my power adapters to go with it. (if you don't really need an adapter please don't ask for one, the guy behind you might need one) Also, please leave a comment below so that others viewing this will know which models are being considered by someone else. That way I don't have 10 people all asking me for "Bob". (I know, I'm really optimistic about this sale :D) The photos S/N 811022573 Darth Vader Model "Bob" S/N 827548632 Power Adapters (optional) All three consoles sitting on my desk (and a rogue foot photo bomb)
  9. My boss joked in a team meeting about getting rid of a developer to pay for client's server upgrades. He didn't laugh. I got a bad feeling about 2022. ?

@Frozone212: are you sure about that?  I know two people in the Redmond, WA area who would disagree with you based on their experience.

Time to update your resume and start looking around for something new.

  10. Hi all, just a quick update. I updated the list with items sold. I am going to the post office this morning to ship the games that have sold. First Class comes with tracking numbers, so when I get those I'll respond to PMs with those. Kind regards, Jim
  11. Five more games now pending. Dark Chambers Fight Night Mat Mania Challenge One-On-One Basketball Tower Toppler
  12. The following games are pending.. Asteroids Ballblazer Commando Donkey Kong Jinks Joust Scrapyard Dog Winter Games
  13. The Sale. I have twenty-eight Atari 7800 games for sale. All games are as pictured. I was going to write a bunch of nonsense about this but there's not really much to say. I have 'em, you want 'em. If you don't want 'em, don't buy 'em. The Shipping. I want to make this as easy and painless as possible. I plan to ship each game USPS First Class. The shipping cost is included in each game price. All games are already packaged up and ready to slap on a shipping label. The Packaging. Each Atari 7800 box is wrapped in Glad® Wrap to help protect it against moisture. This is not shrink wrap or any kind of professional wrapping. The Glad® Wrap should provide mediocre protection against sticky post office juices. I have attached a photo of what an Atari 7800 game wrapped in Glad® Wrap looks like, so there isn't any confusion. Each shipping container has some form of packing material. Some boxes have packing peanuts, some have bubble wrap, some boxes have a combination of peanuts and bubble wrap, and some have this weird, soft, foamy material that's used for packing dinner plates. Now, nothing will protect these tiny, fragile boxes from being stomped on, kicked, or run over by a semi tractor-trailer. But they should be ok in your Postal Carrier's sack. The Process. If you want a game, send me a PM and I'll send you my PayPal email address. Please leave a comment below so others know which games might be unavailable. When sending payment, make sure I get your correct mailing address along with the name(s) of the game(s) you want. Once a game is sold, I will update the original list and leave a comment. so there should be no surprises or broken hearts. If you have any questions, please leave a comment. That way everyone benefits from the answers. The Games. Asteroids (sold) Ballblazer (sold) Centipede (sold) Choplifter $15 Commando (sold) Dark Chambers (sold) Dig Dug (sold) Donkey Kong (sold) Donkey Kong Jr. (sold) Fight Night (sold) Food Fight $15 Galaga $15 Hat Trick $10 Jinks (sold) Joust (sold) Karateka (sold) Mat Mania Challenge (sold) Ms. Pac-Man $15 One-On-One Basketball (sold) Pole Position II $15 Real Sports Baseball (sold) Robotron: 2048 (sold) Scrapyard Dog (sold) Super Huey UH-IX (sold) Touchdown (sold) Tower Toppler (sold) Winter Games (sold) Xevious $15 Example of an Atari 7800 game wrapped in Glad® Wrap See attached photos.
