Hello Retro Fans,
I've been collecting old systems for a while now (both computer and console) and have restored most of them in both functionality and appearance. (De-yellowing, buffing out scratches, etc.) But one challenge I have had poor luck with is restoring the brushed aluminum on the various panels used in old consoles. The pattern of damage for at least four of the consoles (RCA Studio II, Atari 5200, Atari 7800 and TI99/4A) are these black lines that look like cracks which I assume to be oxidized aluminum. I've tried different metal polishes to no effect. Does anyone have an suggestions? I've not been able to find any good data on how to do this.
Thanks.
Cheers,
Jeff
