About Me

I am an Atari 8-bit enthusiast. I learned to program on an Atari 400 and then 800 in my teens and still have my original 800 and 810 disk drive. I have a substantial collection of Atari hardware and software that I accumulated in the early 2000s when you could still find good stuff at thrift stores and flea markets for dirt cheap. The Atari 800 is my favorite of the 8-bit machines although I also really like the aesthetics of the 1200xl.

I finally got around to making a homebrew edutainment game in assembly called Gene Medic (http://genemedic.org) for the 2600. I also have an extensive collection of over 500 Atari 2600 cartridges. In my spare time I am a professor at the University of Pennsylvania and work on novel methods and software for machine learning and artificial intelligence (http://www.epistasis.org)

Here is an Atari Projects web page I started to help people get into the hobby. It is designed to outline short projects that can be completed in usually just 15-60 minutes.
