  1. I also enjoy the "only game talk" aspect of the show. If I wanted politics or current events, I can turn on the TV and watch the news. One reason I listen to podcasts is to escape the drama of the world No harm if you start a sperate politics podcast, I just hope it wouldn't take that one precious thing away from the Intellivisonaries...time. (I assume there is a merit badge for starting a podcast?) I also have no issues with Paul's embellishments on the past shows. I have long drives and a long podcast with funny bits helps break up the tedium of the road for me. Lack of them will not stop me from listening though because there is enough tangent conversations between Rick and Chris that kinda replaces the comedy-jokes-robots-time-travel interruptions we've had in the past. As for ep49 feedback, I enjoyed the PRGE rundown but it does seem you'all needed to explore a bit more of the show rather than being corralled in the rev labor camp...er booth area all weekend. Sorry to hear of the con crude aftermath, but sounds like you had much fun _during_ PRGE. No good deed goes unpunished...
  2. Games that I pick for events for the same reason you stated. Beauty and the Beast -> might have a slight learning curve, but once you "get" it, it's a blast. Bump'n Jump Burgertime -> well, it was a pack-in Chip Shot Golf Frog Bog Gooninuff -> dunno about "free domain" on this one Lock'n Chase Pitfall -> Not exclusive, but neat if you have the 2600 version next to it for attendees to compare. Thin Ice Thunder Castle -> I would mention Night Stalker, but I think Thunder is easier w/o overlays. I do like to run some of the homebrew that are not public domain just b/c they look and play so good (looking you Ms Pac Man!).
  3. We'll need to savor this one, how knows when we get our next 'aries fix! t0spmad is right, pause this bad boy out for weeks!
  4. There is some internet misinformation running around on the Supervision in regard to INTV, so I figured I can help clear things up by sharing some pics. I would also note that the plastic circle on the PCB for the directions is bonded to it so it would be semi destructive if you ever needed to clean the contacts (disc is melted to board). It's fairly comfortable using the "fire" button and disc, but the number pad is smooth and lacks the dimples that the INTV has. I guess my original response might have been confusing, but I was just attempting to show a direct size comparison between INTV and the Supervision pads.
  5. Here are some pics with a Sears INTV controller for comparison. No mylar, just bread'n butter betty basic PCB, seemingly completely directly wired.
  6. I wouldn't say the Supervision pad is identical, just similar. It's thicker, only one "action" button and 8-way disc. There is what seems to be space for an overlay, but I've never heard or seen such. I think the whole 9-key was a fad that a few consoles companys pulled(legacy?) from the earlier pong-type console, which used a 9-key to pick game modes (like the TV-Jack 5000, also Bandai). I'm sure there is a write up somewhere of the history of number pads on controllers used on gaming systems.
  7. The podcast gave me the Intellivision bug and have enjoyed every episode. We still have the episodes and look forward to future endeavors from the 'visionaries. To continue the prior posts theme... "If you haven't got your health, you haven't got anything". ...mental health too!
  8. Multiple times when troubleshooting consoles, the wall wart power supplies will read correct voltage when plugged into the wall by themselves, but under load (plugged into powered on console) will fail. I'll see voltage drop or just not enough amps. Before going too deep, can you make sure the INTV power supply works on a known working II?
  9. I never had a 2600 in my youths, my parent was not thrilled with me sitting in front of the TV even more. I did have neighborhood friends that had pong, VCS and Coleco that I would play on. I was a big fan of Combat and the arcade ports on Coleco. Around 87 I sold my G.I. Joe toys at a yard sale to make cash to buy a NES Action set. Our friends would lend games so we could maximize our library. I do remember when someone got Punch Out, we would take turns playing and when we would be waiting to get our assets handed to us by Mike, we would play 7800 Karateka. I'm sure they had stacks of 2600 I also played. That is one of the last times when 2600/7800 seemed relevant to me.
  10. Like gar0u, I could not catch it live but I'm looking forward to listening to it while I pre-game on Friday Thanks for making it happen Papa.
  11. Greenville, SC. As the "exchange" in the name implies, it's mainly a dealers room but it reminds me of Too Many Games 10 years ago, I hope it grows and is successful. https://www.southeastgameexchange.com/
  12. I just got back from Southeast Game Exchange in S. Carolina. Next up is Video Game Summit but that is more of a friend's meet up and excuse to visit Galloping Ghost. After that I'll be at Southern Fried Gaming Expo and Too Many Games, but I'll be a vendor for those shows. I normally try to make Midwest Gaming Classic but this year I have date conflict I'm looking forward to next years Playthrough Game Con in Raleigh...so I can mess with Rev ?
  13. I'm relative new to INTV, so my game exp is not as broad as folks that had one in the 80's, but I have enjoyed and appec what I have been able to play (love the podcast!) Chip Shot Super Pro Golf - By far the most played INTV game for me Nightstalker (or Thunder Castle) - Thunder has better sound/graphics, but I keep playing Night more Shark! Shark! - Can play for hours, it's like meditation. Bump'n'Jump - Might be a little slow, but it's all there. Lock'n'Chase - Pac-man can go home, give me Lupin any day of the week. Burgertime - There is a reason they made this a pack-in. Might not be my fav arcade game, but this port does it all well. Astrosmash - I'm more of an action game person, so this fits the bill. Similar to Shark!Shark! where I can play and enjoy for a long time. Auto Racing or Motocross or Stadium Mud Buggies - These all seem close in appearance and game play, just depends on my mood when I want to race. I really love the perspective they have. Tron Deadly Discs - I recently was introduced to Discs, so it's currently a fav of mine. Thin Ice - I can't not play this without remembering Robinson and his passion for INTV. You didn't ask for runners-up, but here you are anyways: Space Hawk - Almost like Time Pilot...just no ship. Hover Force - Technical marvel! Beauty & the Beast - I blame the podcast for me giving this little addictive action game a go.
