  1. Hi, First Dimension Video system FD 3000-w looks like it uses the same power connector as the Atari 2600. Is this correct? + on the tip , 9VDC
  2. I also suggest stating if its a Lynx I or II.
  3. This is good advice for anyone who sees a weird behavior.... If your screen has an odd effect, such as image up-side-down or image reversed or a missing color.. Examine the McWill screen flex circuit where it bends at the bottom of the screen. If you are not careful (and even if you are), the cable can get pinched by the battery mount post and put a hole in the cable severing several lines in the cable. If this happens your screen is done for. You will need to buy a new screen.
  4. Hi Everyone: New question... Is there a common component failure that causes no video/no audio aka game not booting yet everything else works fine ? I've been searching the threads but no luck so far? I've got a Lynx picked up off ebay from Techbabe that has no game boot issue. Just looking for a starting point or common parts that fail causing the no-game-boot issue.
  5. Hi Everyone, the color pattern appears to be brown - yellow- blue - red. which makes it a weird resistor since typical resistors only have 3 bands.
  6. The resistor is hard to read due to the color of the resistor itself. I measured it in circuit and it was 13K so it has to be at least that much.
  7. Thanks River, I'll check it again. I had 2 on the bench at once, but I thought they both powered on and off. Still, I need to check again. As a side note: I've heard of another issue where the 5V is too low. Replacing R74: 30 Ohm replacement resistor, This increases regulator circuit voltage slightly for picky Lynx units that need a few more tenths of a volt to work. I have to check and see if this is some odd way of doing the same thing. I hope your right. That's an easy fix to set it right.
  8. Hi everyone, I picked up 2 lynx-II units off ebay. One of them has a strange repair. I'd like to remove it but I need to ask the experts 1st "What are they trying to do here? Thanks for your help.
  9. Thank! I completed my 1st McWill screen install last night and I love it ! I have a couple more Lynx units so I'm refining my process on paper before doing another one. Q: Do you typically replace the (5v regulation) power components even though they have not yet failed and the recap the Lynx as a precaution? My Lynx units all work fine although I did have a Lynx die on me about 10 years ago which is why a bought a few lynx units.
  10. Hey everyone, I just saw this photo. Is this the way most people are doing it? Remove the connector and add the wires ? Makes sense. I had not see anyone on youtube do it that way but it makes perfect sense. http://atariage.com/forums/uploads/monthly_03_2018/post-34298-0-29374800-1520704942.jpeg
  11. Thanks. I feel a bit silly. I have not played my Lynx in a while and forgot you need a game in it. So I plugged in the ac adapter, reconnected the switch ribbon cable, plugged in a game, Game music started (California games is good for this test,). Check my VCC and yup +5V so I'm moving on to get the mcWill screen installed today.
  12. Hi Everyone, I have a question about prepping for the McWill Screen. Please note I am experienced in soldering. Your comments are appreciated. I just received my McWill screen and prepped for install. #1. I plugged in a game with the OEM AC adapter and played for a few minutes to be sure the Lynx was working fine. I disassembled and removed the required components and then I plugged in my Lynx AC Adapter to test for 5V at VCC and there's nothing. I got to thinking, if this point is how you power the screen, don't have to push the power button to get the 5 V? If we have to push the power button, I think the Lynx wont turn on without a game. This a few steps that might be required, not sure. Or something else is suddenly wrong within a few minutes after testing. Are there some steps here that are required that are not covered? because some of the steps seem to be missing from the McWill guide and the videos out there. Any feedback is greatly appreciated. My lynx is sitting on the bench until I can verify 5V.
  13. Please add me to the waiting list of the LYNX SD.
