  1. No, that's not the reason to use a flashcart. the flashcarts purpose is to run games on real hardware that you don't own a cart for. It replaces the cart, not the method of using the rom.
  2. I did get Pitfall II for Easter one year. That would be a great way for history to repeat itself.
  3. Help me, Ben from Plaion, you're our only hope! In all seriousness, how is it going? I'm fine with it where it is for now, but just curious if any recent testing on the back end has yielded any fun and exciting results?
  4. Well… there are loading times compared with an OG 2600. But they are reasonable.
  5. That’s the difference between running the extremely outdated version of pro system from Retroarch, vs. the updated color palette included in the updates applied by raz0red from his build.
  6. With the 2600+ once it is done dumping the rom to local storage, it is no longer maintaining an electrical connection to the cart.
  7. In my humble, untested with these particular joysticks opinion - I love me some Microswitch joystick. I have authentic Sanwa JLF's In my Arcade 1up Retropie conversion cabs, and they are fantastic. That being said, I don't know that you can really get a proper microswitch stick with the right amount of throw into a CX40 sized case and have it feel right. To me, Microswitch style sticks are made for the abuse of a standup cabinet, and the hand holding the case could get real crampy trying to manage that much throw in a handheld. Unless it's a really tight stick throw, which would be fairly stiff. Not a big fan of that. microswitch sticks that are too tight with the spring and switches is a lot of work on middle aged flab claws. But still... cool. I like it. When I was 14 I would've spent all my paperboy money on that.
  8. People only worship FPGA now because it’s the “new and shiny” thing way, and FPGA proponents spend all their time talking it up like it’s perfect and poo-pooing emulation because all internet conversations need to be chip measuring contests.
  9. It’s doable, but you’re going to pay through the nose for what are ultimately shit-tier games like Tank Command I don’t care how rare it is. Crap games are crap games and not worth the asking price the ocd collectors demand.
  10. If by some chance I get to make it there, I will hold you to this!
  11. I'm on Congress. just over the channel near the Children's Museum.
  12. It's right up the street from my office, so I might drop by if they do.
  13. How much did they take you for? I still have my original from Easter 1984.
